I miss the puddles...
I was thinking about what technological advancements could benefit the sword. Being that furturistic RPs logically assume armor exceeding weaponry, the blade would regain some lost glory. Now, there is the whole better materials and harder bit. But I was thinking most of the advancments would be in the hilt, designs that absorb impact and redirect the impact increasing power and such.
What do you think?

Well, unless you want to go to lightsabers, (and please don't say yes to that) I think there's:
-stronger alloys that can hold a sharper edge
-computer-aided design rather than trial-and-error like most older swords (This includes hilt designs and such)
-Maybe serated edges and vibrating blades, though this comes with its own issues
