Well, unless you want to go to lightsabers, (and please don't say yes to that) I think there's:
-stronger alloys that can hold a sharper edge
-computer-aided design rather than trial-and-error like most older swords (This includes hilt designs and such)
-Maybe serated edges and vibrating blades, though this comes with its own issues

Yes, thats good.

Advanced metals that allow for a monomolecular edge.

Yes and perhaps memory metal.

Combined with strength-enhancing powered armor and battlesuits that allow you to swing the blade with enough force to truly be devastating.

A vibroblade consists of a blade on an electronic hilt that causes the blade to vibrate at extremely high frequency, making it able to cut much cleaner and cleave through metallic objects.

And strength-enhancing battlesuits are just awesome.

Vibrations wouldn't actually do that. Unless possibly if it had a computer that made the sword vibrate at the same frequency as what it was cutting into was, like Tesla's earthquake machine. But I still have my doubts about that.

Think of it like a saw. A saw won't cut through a tree in one stroke, but if you saw back and forth long enough, it will. Now think of a really, really rapidly moving saw.

Then you aren't really getting an advantage. You are sacrificing the speed of the cut for the ability to saw. Its the reason chainsaws don't make very good weapons in real life. You slam a chainsaw on someone's head, you aren't going to just slice through, you are going to get stopped by the skull and forced to wait for the quarter second or so it takes to saw through. And going faster doesn't really change that unfortunately.

Though Viroblades would be great against armor.

You're still likely to die with a chainsaw, though. Think of the blade of the chainsaw as a hammer. Think of the little teeth on the blade as spikes.

Would you want to get hit with a metal hammer with sharp spikes on it? Nooooo. Would you like it rotating at a fast speed? Noooo.

You can survive a hit with a hammer. There was this mail flight, where a Black man who was a blackbelt in karate tried to kill the three other occupants using two sludge hammers. Everyone on the plane suffered multiple hits to the head, but managed to forcibly restrain him. They suffered some minor brain damage but they didn't die.

Crushing a human skull is a lot harder then it looks. If you want to one hit it, you need to hit it in just the right places.

Anyway, a chainsaw delivers far less blunt force trauma then a hammer and the teeth don't cut deep enough. Also if you don't have a helmet, I doubt anybody will rally be able to take advantage of that fact. Pain would probably make anybody dead.
