I don't know if they would necessarily count as unknown, but (oh, I'm going to use the words...) when I was younger, I listened to Nelson. I'd post a song or two, but YouTube and my comp don't go together too well...

Special Props To Don Ezio for this!

E.S Posthumus... they make a lot of music for trailers and movies but I don't think many people know about them.

    Unstoppable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoaUYcwEpSw

    Menouthis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyLSt...eature=related

I also like Loreena McKennitt, who may or may not be an unknown.

    All Souls Night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qQHlWkSM_o

Where I live music of those genres isn't very popular, so from my experience nobody I know knows about them, on the larger scale though that might be different.

The Descendants, and Rites of Spring. There wouldnt be a green day, or any of the emo stuff thats so grotesquely popular now without these bands respectively. If your into "pop Punk"(hate that term) or emo and you havent heard of these guys then you shouldnt be listening to it. That would be like a metal fanatic who's never heard of Black Sabbath

Had one of their CASSETTE tapes *facepalms*

My uncommonly known semi-fav band is Richard Cheese. He has several CDs. One I know is most played on the air is Lounge Against The Machine. I have more...but I shall wait to see what people got in their internal 'IPod' so to speak. lol *grammar is intentionally spoken here LOL*

I can't believe I forgot this guy until he just popped up on my itunes a moment ago.

    KITARO

    A modern composer. A genius.
I must have 5-6 CD's of his, and every one is a gorgeous symphony. DO NOT make the mistake of buying a single song on mp3 or a greatest hit CD. I got the greatest hit CD and it was HUGE mistake. He creates albums with tracks that tie together. One track flows into the next and takes you on a journey. Think of them as movements in a symphony that is the entire CD. The greatest hit CD had no "flow" from track to track.

I highly recommend the Kojiki CD, if you want to buy his best work. Here is my favorite track from it...

Note for kids: There is no secret message here.
Note for adults: More than a few people enjoy putting on a Kitaro CD for a romantic backdrop to <ahem>intimacy<cough>
I assure you, that this can be a magickal experience.

Ever heard of Swing Metal? No? I hadn't either until ran across The Diablo Swing Orchestra. Think like... 20's/30's Swing with an avant-garde Metal twist.

    Cool

Im not sure how popular this band is across the states but certaintly in England they seem very unknown, The Band is 'Poets of the fall' they have released 4 albums which are amazing, every single song has a 5 star rating on my itunes, i just can't skip a song, for me they are that good, they are a Rock group with sort of a soft feel at times. Must add there lyrics are always spot on

    Examples....1 from each album

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2-HO...eature=related - This song taken from there newest album.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8ywo...eature=related - First song i ever heard from them, havent looked back since

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yROAvkx5ZBU&feature=fvst - Taken from there 3rd album

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB1Qk...ext=1&index=10 - First song they released from there first studio album.
We are what we repeatedly do.Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.
Any man can be an artist..you just have to be good at what you do..my art is death..and im about to paint a masterpeice.

There's no need for hate in this thread. The reason most artists qualify as an "unknown" is because their music is not appreciated or desired by the majority of people. I fully expect that every artist presented will be disliked by the majority of forum members. Just because something isn't your cup of tea, is no reason to spout venom. There is going to be a few members that like orchestrated music, and will love Kitaro. There will be one or two that heed my secret message and have a whole new experience.

This thread is for the unknowns to get the chance. There's going to be a few members that find something they like, that they otherwise would have never been exposed to. That's what the thread is for.
