No, ummm how did Conrad put it, we played a practice match against Computer Opponents in a scenario that is an accurate simulation of the Greek Peninsula, or something like that. I think it was 3v6. I came in last on our team score-wise, but I wasn't too far behind![]()
Thank you for joining us in that particular game match, Eric.
The custom scenario that was used in Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion was an accurate in-game representation of the geographical layout of the Greek Peninsula. In terms of the player setup, I controlled the Athenian polis, Heraclius controlled the Lacedaemonian polis and Eric controlled the Corinthian polis. Admittedly, my end game score was not particularly impressive; however, I was occupied with establishing Athenian cleruchies in the Aegean Islands and the western coastline of Anatolia as opposed to placing a serious effort into defeating the computer opponents. While Heraclius and Eric were subjugating the enemies on the Greek mainland such as the Epirotes, Macedonians and Thessalians, I was attempting to rebuild the Athenian Hegemony by colonizing the Aegean Islands and expanding my maritime possessions. I managed to incorporate Euboea and the Cycladic Islands into my burgeoning empire.
It was certainly an enjoyable game match set in the Greek mainland. Although this custom scenario featured southern Italy and the eastern coastline of the island of Sicily, these two regions were not occupied by any Grecian power in this custom made scenario. I am tempted to modify this scenario by inserting the minor poleis or city-states in southern Greece [Magna Graecia] and the leading Sicilian polis of Syracuse.
Ah Conrad. . . You managed to completely leave out your sole military action. The leveling of my forward base using bombard cannons on attack ground. That action hampered my military machine greatly, as it is quite a distance from Sparta to Athens for heavy siege equipment to move.
I always enjoyed AoE2. Loved making my own maps, but I wish there was a way so the maps could be made a little...bigger. It'd add so much more to the game. I also played generals alot, I like the C&C series, but they kinda screwed them up when they released C&C 3. Anything after that was a hunk fo crap as far as I'm concerned. I miss RA2, I can still play it, but not with expansions. Generals is good, espcially with zero hour, and some mods I checked out.
Thanks Morgan for the awesome signature and avatar!

Bump (so Simi doesnt delete my post again...)
I've been logging into Gameranger... no one seems to play much?
On a side note, whoever has SC2, have you played the Custom Game called '-Mafia-'?? Its like clue. 14ish Players are randomly assigned roles, alligned to The Town, The Mafia, or are Neutral. The town needs to figure out who the Mafia players are, and hang them during the day. While the Mafia (And possibly Neutral Serial Killers/Arsonists/Witchs) kill the Townpeople at night. Classes are assigned specific roles. For example, escort can block another player's ability, Vigilante's can shoot someone at night, sheriff/investigators detect weapons/knives at night and so on. Its quite addicting and quite fun. It stimulates my brain rather nicely
My gf, and another friend of mine (who is girl :O), and I play it all the time. It would be sweet if we could get 14 people to make a full game instead of playing with 11 other randoms...
