strange weapons keep stats
how many kills ect
they have ranks based on kills

buying games through steam can also give perk items
i.e fallout- pipboy for the engineer

other games gives items to your tf2 account too

but some servers with mods can

i play a prop hunt server
reds turn into props from the map and then hide
blues then have limited weapons to then try and find and kill you with

there are other odd servers too

p.s its worth $5 just for trade, and as for hats thats the whole point of tf2

I can generally be found on an OPST server or a random PL server that a friend chooses (generally tends to be a lotusclan or NOHEROES server)

On a related note on topic I still dont have tf2 downloaded, but I want it! Then again I already have a lot of games to play still...
