[Cosmic Fury]

While there are many talented authors of short stories that occasionally post their works, I wanted to try a slightly different story. Rather than writing a short story or novel, I'm trying the "Journalistic Storytelling" approach. These are news articles from Galactic News Network, an interstellar news network in the same universe as the Achenaran Imperium from the Privateer RP. I'm not going to date these articles because I don't want to bother setting up some sort of interstellar dating template.

I'm re-creating this thread, due to the continued existence of the universe in which the Achenaran Imperium, the Furians, Kislevites, and other such space-faring civilizations exist.

The old thread's first paragraph is also that quote. Read it for reference if you so desire. Only requirements for posting here is "suitable" app in the Galactic Void/similar OOC thread, and stuff.

So yeah, here be the news of the Universe as we created it. Go nuts!

Assassination Attempts Failed!

Ferro, Achenaran Imperium

"Hello, this is Ron Burgundy, bringing you breaking news. An assassination attempt upon the Achenaran Emperor's life was foiled very ingloriously, when an unknown assassin attempted to kill the Achenaran Emperor with a sword. The assassin was then put down by the Emperor himself. " Ron slipped his shot glass under the desk, and rambled on. "Other than that, no other information has been revealed to us, other than the fact that the assassin was well known in criminal circles."

"At about the same time, a well-known assassin and soldier of fortune known as Vrael was reportedly attacked by an unknown organization. The attack was reportedly thwarted with an efficiency characteristic only of this famous being. Any more information at this time is severely limited, as all parties have declined to speak on the matter."

"This is Ron Burgundy, always here with the latest breaking news. Stay tuned, Orion."

Achenar IV, Achenaran Imperium

"Good evening, Orion! This is Ron Burgundy bringing you breaking news!"

"The Interstellar Blademasters' Tournament has officially begun today, with the Emperor announcing the opening of the preliminaries! Many very famous people from all over have come to this Tournament, including the Emperor, King Adrian Steele of Mashiro, Autarch Yriel from the Empire of Kislev, Helen Dracona from the far-off Draconian Empire, and many others!"

"The air was charged up today as everyone got ready for the tournament, and as expected, there was a lot of things to cover, but not enough timeslot to show it in, so we will be keeping you updated with constant, live coverage from a special GNN channel from now till the closing ceremonies!"

"Many things happened today, including an extremely harsh exchange between King Eddard Forno of Azuro, and the mercenery Blake Fury, both of whom are apparently of the same race, and harbor a very old grudge against one another A full recording will be appreciated, with there already being a reward for someone who produces one. These two, among many others, will be duelling instead of fighting in a simulator during the tournament, so those of you who want to see a REAL fight aren't going to miss out on any action!"

Ron took another shot of whiskey. He was thinking about that weather girl too much these days. At least he didn't say "stay sexy," or else he would definitely have gotten fired by even his incredibly lax superiors.

Clan Expansion

"This is Jason Argo, with the international news. An empire near the western border of Achenar known simply as Clan Wolf - actually, that's Hell's Wolf, now - have taken advantage of their recent ceasefire with the neighbouring Federated Commonwealth of Allied Stars to further stretch their borders."

"Their cunning Khan, Charles Jennings, has managed this feat through two strategic maneuvers - his marriage to Khan Patricia of an adjacent clan called the Hell's Horses led to a merge of their realms and the change of clan name. Almost immediately after this, they engaged their other neighbours, the Jade Falcon Clan, in a ritual known amongst these clans as a Rite of Absorption."

"Their triumph in this battle was not without cost, though; while we have yet no estimate on casualties, it's rumoured that they lost a fine commander during combat. An anonymous source within Achenar deems this 'disturbing, given they're such close neighbours of ours', but said little more on the matter. It has been noted however that Achenar did take the east half of Jade Falcon space before this recent trial, so stay tuned for updates. And now back to you Ron."

Civil War in Cappellen March

"This is Jason Argo, with the international news. It seems that the civil war in the nearby Cappellen March may soon be over, as the Styk Commonality, which is in favour of reintegration with the nearby Federated Commonwealth of Allied Stars, has recently gotten support from them which has turned the tide of the battle in their favour. No doubt this is strategic expansion on part of the Commonwealth, given their neighbours in Wolf Clan have gained so much space of late, though as it seems that the Cappellen March was once part of the Commonwealth they might more see it as just taking back what is theirs. Back to you, Ron."

Luckily the Core Combine is well prepared for this war, of course there not going to outright win but their going to give the galaxy hell and even after the war they will probably still be a problem though definitely nothing like now.
