until we get to today where there seems one and only one reason to drop alliance: so you can't be hit with devils while your (former-)alliance mates or alts (that don't exist) can apply them on the target without limits. The need to be red to apply a devil other than broken gates I can live with. But I can't declare on unallieds.... unallieds should be treated as reds by default.
[edit]To give an example: I get hit by someone that's full fleet feeted. I can't counter it with a lost in the waste because the aggressor is unallied. I get hit with poisoned feast but can't return the favor because the aggressor is unallied. Dropping alliance just to protect from getting hit by devils is very dishonarable imo[/edit]
