What happens when you declare on them and they do red?

if someone isnt in an alliance, you cant declare on them. hence the inability to place some devil items on them - like lost in the waste, etc

you can only use some of those on someone who is specifically noted with the enemy flag

[edit]To give an example: I get hit by someone that's full fleet feeted. I can't counter it with a lost in the waste because the aggressor is unallied. I get hit with poisoned feast but can't return the favor because the aggressor is unallied. Dropping alliance just to protect from getting hit by devils is very dishonarable imo[/edit]

Thats a very bad example as you just contradicted yourself.

If they're not in an alliance, they're not red to you and cannot apply any devil buffs on you and vice versa. I.E: you wouldnt be poisoned.

its their mates in the red alliance that hit you with Devils while they are out
