Sorry for quite a newbish question, but i'm only used to attacking level 5's and below so i don't know.
It has:
6884 Warriors
2333 Pikeman
1555 Swordsman
1555 Archers
And obviously level 10 techs.
would 1000 ballistae be enough to safely defeat them with no losses? (i have 10 archery)
I would guess it is, as the ballistas outrange all their units, but i'm not certain.

You might possibly win that scenario, but you will definitely have losses. 1000 ballistae are going to kill 1000 troops per round, so by the second or third round, some of those troops are going to be on you, and killing your ballistae.

A ton of archers with layers would be better.

Using the rally spot exercise tab, you will find that 7000 archers will do the job nicely, with or without layering.

Exercise is a joke. It doesn't factor tech levels or hero attack.
