    Default Defending question..

When being attacked, if you open your gates....is that when you army will fight also?

If you lose, in that situation do you lose your city? If the gates are closed, how does one take over a city?

If your gates are closed, the enemy army will fight your traps, fortifications, and walls only. If they break through, then they will fight your army.

With the gates open, your troops will fight outside the city.

No, if you open your gates, your soldiers will fight up against the wall. Your enemies will have to rush past the traps to get to your troops.
