Sure, how about the 1 cat, pike and cav vs 1 archer though. The archer lives 3 rounds and kills both the pike and the cavalry. Seems the catapult waits 3 rounds before it starts shooting for some reason

Im glad you found this out.
Now I see the true problems with combat. This math is poor at best, I wish they would change it. Swords, which are faster than warriors for some reason, are therefore targeted first. All the archers will focus on them, so 2k swords with 15k warriors behind them against 2k archers = all the swords dead, which just isnt right. Real men wouldnt run away from the mass and make themselves a target. |

I have an even better scenario than the 1 cat, pike and cav vs 1 archer scenario and that's the 1 cav, warrior, pike, 2 swordsman, 2 warriors, and 2 workers vs 1 archer scenario. The archer kills all 8! Apparently this archer was trained by Rambo. I have a possible explanation as to why both of these scenarios occur.
When a battle occurs the forces start far away lets say 3000 range. As the units move closer the difference in movespeed between the melee units causes them to seperate and get picked off 1 by 1 from the archer. If nothing ever dies because everything is too far away it just ignores that round and once a unit dies it starts counting from round 1. Last edited by Penguinsoo; 05-14-2009 at 09:17 PM. |

I figure better a slight necro then a double post, anyone know how to figure the tech differences into this? Do they just effect the base attack and defense values? Has anyone experimented with how the hero attack & possibly even Intel bonuses figure in?

1 - cav move, 2 - units attack, 3 - all units move, repeat 2/3 until the battle ends So I still see no reason for this scenario. |

It doesnt work.
I tried to figure out how many warriors 100 swordmen can kill. The answer, according to the formula, is 47.5. Swordmen range is 30, warrior's is 20. So 100 sword vs 47 warriors should get any casualty. They do, exactly 6 casualties according to my rally point. Sorry man, keep working on it, I'll do it to! |

You know what?! I think there is a bug in the process.. OR this game is extremely advanced!
I mean.. Look at this: 1 Archer versus 1 calvary 1 swordsmen 1 pikemen and 1 Catapult Archer manages to kill calvary, swordsmen and pikemen before dying at the 3rd round. BUT!!! 1 archer versus 1 swordsmen 1 pikemen and 1 catapult Archer kills pikemen, and dies at first round. THIS MEANS: the swordsmen survived without the calvary, and died with it!!! MAYBE.. the catapult doesn't fire if there are units that are too close in the range.. like the calvary! |

I tried 'camping' but my cavalry still seemed to attack first and take most of the casualties. Has anyone tried this?

What do you mean? When you camp they all camp together, or are you talking about sending the cavalry right after your other troops using camping?

I tried sending at the same time and specified enough camp time that I thought they would all have time to arrive and then attack. It didn't seem to make any difference.
