Evony hates free speech

There's another thread on the evony forum where they justify the commencement of legal action against an foreign journalist in the jurisdiction of New South Wales, Australia. I tried to respond to that post but do not have sufficient "privileges" to do so.

It is obvious that evony do not like any criticism, whether justified or not, and are obviously shopping for a jurisdiction that suits them best.

I despise those who are against fee speech and think that it is really weak that you are suing a critic simply because he is excercising his rights in a free country to voice his opinion. You come off looking like bully's doing this, it makes you look bad.

Everybody hates communists and those who are against free speech. You people should wake up and stop sounding like babies.

if your spending money on the game you support communism and have no right to complain

Some issues I have with your post here, mainly the large levels of ignorance.

First and foremost, Slander against any person may be followed with legal action under many laws, in many countries (including Australia) across the globe. Evony is just using their right to defend themselves from an attack.

The attack, however, I have no comment on.

And, as for the communism comment, Evony is not a communist corporation, nor does everybody hate communists.

I suggest you read a little into The Communist Manifesto, maybe drip some of that ignorance away.

Actually we don't hate free speech at all, and I think I have always stated that constructive feedback is definately appreciated. By constructive I mean, not having a swear word, not simply all caps or something like that or posting urls.

It basically comes back to mutual respect. I think all people have the ability to get an issue, suggestion, praise or complaint in a way that does not have to come across as an attack. That doesn't mean your complaint or other item is any less effective; I would say that it instead solidifies the relationship and fosters better communication and response.

Evony has a fantastic community of players that truly have made Evony: Age I the fastest growing game online. I personally look through game suggestions (as well as taking reads over other forums and threads) each weekend, sorting out potentials. The forum moderator team do a wonderful job with the hard task at keeping the forums orderly and tidy. The community liaisons are here for you and they do an incredible lot of work behind the scenes taking issues to the development team.

All in all, you're free to comment, provide suggestions, constructive feedback or praise. Do it in a polite, mature way and I don't see any issue at all as long as the forum rules are not circumnavigated.

I am going to put a hold on people posting in this thread for 20 minutes. Give you time to think before continuing to post.

Storm, you forgot to ad that Evony is a private company, this is not your back yard nor a street corner in the US. Free speech does not exist in a private company. You agreed to the rules of the forum when you registered. Not once does it mention your right to free speech, this is not a country, it is a private business and you are using their private forum.

If you want freedom of speech, grab your soap box, haul it down to the local park. Then from there you can say pretty much anything you want, because even here in the US not everything you say is allowed either. Free speech is allowed as long as you do not slander, threaten or abuse with your speech.

They are suing a reporter from a rag mag because of his slander/libel statements in a publication. You being from the US should know about this, since we cannot escape daily news about some Hollywood star doing this.
