With scripting and bot programs...I could see this as being MAJORLY exploited!!!

I am not giving up all the hard work I put into this account just so you can kick myself or my husband off just cause you think people are opening two accounts. Not fair at all and he is part of the same alliance that is wrong. If you want to do something about it do it by e-mails or something else but I can tell you for myself and others like me I wont give my account up and I am sure my husband wont without a fight. This is not fair to me, him or others like us we have one home, one computer, and both love the game. find another way to stop people from what you call cheating. :(
From the Rules (updated 4/28) found here: http://bbs.civony.com/showthread.php?p=27955#post27955
If two or more accounts are regularly, occasionally, or lastingly being played from the same network, a Game Operator must be notified without exception. In these cases, the accounts will not be able to have fleet contact while on the same connection.
Can we end this now?
You going to tell me myself and my husband can't play becuase we have one computer and one Ip address. So in this economy you think for one of us to play while other is playing that I need to go spend another 1000 dollars and buy another modem which will cost me another 30 or more dollars just to play. You Freaking Jerk who are you to tell me I cant play or he cant play without spending that kind of money and on a free game.
Calm down a little. No one said you can't play and your husband can't play together. The developers realize that people play from the same IP address, so unless there's some gross misconduct going on (i.e. one of you shipping ALL resources to the other multiple times, things like that) you're going to be fine. To be safe I would send an e-mail to UMGE's staff about the situation, but you getting angry 'now' is not doing you any good.
Follow the rules. You'll be fine. If I'm wrong, and you somehow get banned, THEN get angry.
we are in the same alliance and one member helps other member with recources right is that cheating. I dont think so. So if my husband sends a new city (even mine) he should have the right and I to send to him. Just as many of my alliance members have the right to send to me and I to them. I got him into this game so he could join the same alliance. I am not interested in fighting family on here. That is stupid. But no I don't think he should send me everything he has becuase he could not go anywhere.
I realize that it is stupid that you can't interact with your husband, but you have to look at it from the other point of view also to get the big picture. The staff want to make it 'as fair as they can' for 'the most people they can'. Idiot people having multiple accounts just to further themselves make the game unfair for everyone.
You should be blaming people like that, the devs really have no other way of stopping it. I can't send resources to my two roommates who play either, even though both of them are fairly new to it and I'd love to help them out if I could. Trust me on this, you're not the only one who has to deal with a small amount of people ruining certain things for others.
The best we can do is follow the rules as best we can, and try to enjoy the game even if certain things seem unfair. It's for the best for the community as a whole.
I have never played a game of this type where it was allowed for people on the same IP to send resources/troops/anything to another person on the same IP. Find a 3rd party person in your alliance to send them through if you have to. There is nothing new about this rule.
Honestly it's not that hard to see how having one person play two accounts could be over the top.
I would highly doubt they're looking for 2 accounts that are largely self sufficient but interact some. I think the problem is when two accounts act as one. This becomes a bigger issue where one accout is used just to feed the engines of war of another account. The second account could appear largely docile (defensive), all the while feeding materials to a set of juggernaught account that has 40 farms, allowing it to have a massively bloated army.
And if you don't feel like counting that comes out to 360,000 food per hour *before* you give it a mayor, which makes it realistic to have ~540k food comming in per hour per city to feed troops. That seriously unbalances any attacker/defender scenario, and makes the game less fun for anyone on the other side.
And this is the internet. Some people really don't have something better to do with their lives.
Ok, wait....So I told my husband about this tonight and he was going to sign up tomorrow...but he can't? Cause we share the internet?
Oh Sorry Susaki...I jsut saw your answer to Snow Kitty :p
i made another account when the game first started and there was no rule on multis. you guys can delete it, i never play it anyway, im busy enough with my main.
So a quick recap...at one time, mutiple accounts WERE allowed...
Later, this policy was reversed and post #2 was "edited for clarity"...(I dislike when this happens and the thread remains in place because the posts following the edited one become contradictory and/or confusing, but that is my problem)
To acommodate the people who have a legitimate reason to play from the same network...
It all seems pretty straightforward...
...the only question remaining is: HOW does a player notify a "Game Operator"?
When Civony began multiple accounts were allowed. As of April 12th (my rough estimate) the rules changed to disallow multiple accounts.
Those made before April 12th cannot be deleted, because before then Civony had allowed it. There may be a script implemented in the future that disallows troop interaction between accounts with the same ip address making multiple accounts only useful when actually putting time into said account.
this is stupid me and my husband use the same computer and the account can be accessed on different computers because it is a browser game so multiple accounts on the same ip shouldn't mean anything... you people should be banned for even suggesting the idea because you haven't really thought this out
i still see two different answers...
is multi accounts OK?
id like a answer from one of the game people, not just a random angry ****ed off forum troll...that is unless said angry troll can show me a link with the real and proper answer :)
Currently no as far as anyone has been advised. Personally? I think they should have the allowances set up so that anyone on the same IP cannot be in an alliance or share resources etc as some people play civony from work and cannot control other people from joining  I don't personally have more than one account, but I could see it being exploited if it was given free reign.
