For a moderator you fail to see the economics of the fight. For one, when you reach high level fighting you are not talking about just a few waves on the enemy. When you use scout bombs you are also dumping honor on the person and gaining 50% back while having them receive 10%. Also you do not just attack by yourself but use group effort from several members to send scout bombs at a city. Yes cav layered with ranged attack can do well on specific cities with wall range cut and layers gotten rid of but that only works with an offline player. 1 abatis and some layers pumping and goodbye uber attack numbers. instead your little cav masterpiece will be wiped. On the other hand, throwing bombs with layers in with the mix and timed together will kill mass amounts of the archers and make the person get 10% for many attacks. That will kill the attack power of that person. Also, any who reinforce that city will also be getting back 10%. In long fights the only way to effectively wear down your opponent is to bomb with layers thrown in at proper times kill ats if gates are closed, kill 'bomb shield' troops to let bombs kill archers and to saddle the person with 10% heal rate.
Well, being a forum moderator doesn't require me to be a guru of Evony combat. ;) Though I do have a fair idea of war economics.
Scout-bombing is effective in its own right, I don't deny that; indeed what you've detailed above was common knowledge in my old alliance. But I wouldn't call scoutbombing "go[ing] big" in regard to archer slaughter. It has the benefit of bypassing other defences, which is handy in those kinds of circumstances, but it's not necessarily the most brutal method of strictly killing archers.Quote:

Plus, the original poster was asking how to use cavalry and cataphracts. Describing the use of a scoutbomb isn't too helpful in that case.
Well, scoutbombing really only works on offline players, too. Anyone online should hopefully be wise enough to at least close the gates or have the targeted city reinforced with a million scouts or three.Quote:

Agreed, but this thread is about cavs/phracts, not scoutbombs. :)Quote:

lol, Crusade..
Well i believe that after whittling down their defenses by using warriors and cavalry as "bait", Sending in a wave of 125,000 Cataphracts (Yes I use War Banners(or whatever they are called)), usually does the job against all enemies.
However!!---This is a very costly (In terms of time and rescources) attack method.
Bear this in mind.
http://bbs.evony.com/showthread.php?t=105997 shows a cav/phract hit taking out 691k archers plus 18k towers. I seem to recall it was preceded by a couple of archer waves to clear the layers.
