my very early ones were, but ive only played around for a few hours so i still dont know exactly what im doing.

i personally like using paint.net with some plug-ins....and bickyz, mine were so much worse when i 1st started making them

i really like messing with brushes and layers :D can get some cool effects on the backgrounds.
