Ass for the first-person shooter standpoint- Yes, It helps people plan real life violence. Do some research and see how a lot of violent crimes were inspired by the perpetrator playing these video games.

What percentage of people who play COD or whatever walk into schools with AK-47s and shoot people? Less then 1%, thats for sure. The vast majority of criminals don't play violent games, at least no more than usual.

Ok, so COD Modern Warfare in school is a bad idea; there are some obvious limits. But 99.5% of people past the age of 8 can tell the difference between video games and real life. Nobody I know thinks its ok to go around killing people just because they saw it in a game.
