How about implimenting a drawback system?
For example, every action taken has a draw-back. For example: take a potion, you gain something, but you lose something too. And too much useage (or too much at the same time) leads to sevear draw-backs (like death, for example).

She has had some weapons training but is especially adept in magic, due to her elven lineage. She is usually quite solitary and prefers to work alone as opposed to in a group, but her father insisted that she go to the Academy to learn to work with others. He figured she would have no problem with the course work, but more so interacting with others.
Im thinking Elves are nearly immortal so 80 shouldn't be a problem, is it? Anyways, I read books, and thats usually the case.

Weeeell, all I can say is that ATM, we're on a quest, defending something know as the vampire's knife. But, 'course we failed and they got away... Throughout the story there's been action, surprises, romance, and a lot of conflict, I may add. Between character's, I mean. Jurnis, who you may or may not know, was one that GM'd his character a bit too much. But that's nothing important. We've at least had a few weeks of school RP wise, one successful mission in the past where we went to sewers to flush out goblins.
I'm sure that's not all, but my mind is a bit blank, sorry.
