well. it ended the war... and killed innocents... it was both good and bad.
they should of done it on base islands instead of cities...
A full-scale invasion of Japan would have cost millions more lives than if we dropped the bomb...
We should now discuss the politics of this bomb being dropped...
They had to, the war with the japs couldnt continue. The japs were also making some chemical kamikaze planes too.
It was the only way at the time, but still doesn't make it right to kill innocents (Well, massacre). A full scale invasion of Japan would've killed lots of Americans, but the nuke killed lots of Japanese people.
Also, the US was going to drop the nuke in a military base. Sadly, the team that was dropping the bomb dropped it in the wrong place ;p.
Even though it ended the war, victory for the US, it was not right. Was the smart choice war-wise, but the massacre of so many innocent people. It's just wrong.
yes they must used nukes to bombs on japan due to the fact that japan has not surrendered to the alllies while the other two Axis country germany an italy ill ready have surrendered but this didnt make japan ready for surrender but insstead it made them fight hard, cuz we bombed them and after a few years finally they surrendered ...see they how long from the day US bombed them to the day they surrendered??
this also leads to the post "is man good or bad " we had to bomb them for a good reason but in the other hand a bad reason
The whole point of the atomic bomb was to cause devastation that a nation couldn't recover from for many decades. In fact, attacking the civilian base essentially crushed all support for the Japanese during the war. It was the quickest way to end a war that had already cost tens of millions their lives, and could easily have escalated even further.
So yes, I do believe it was a semi-good idea, though 'massacre' is a fairly accurate way to portray the bombings.
This might have nothing with the debate to do, but have you guys heard of the man who survived both the nukes?
But by nuking, America valued that American lives MUCH MUCH more than the Japanese lives, so much that they didn't care if they massacred hundreds of thousands of people!
Instead of nuke, why don't just send terror around Japan?
wow... I was the first no vote!
yes, but what is worst? civilian terror or military terror?
Should RUSSIA droped nukes on US oh YEAH!!!!
Yes but frighten civilians will eventually create frighten military. That was one of Rome's doomfactors
i still wonder how do you post pictures in the forum
nvm i found it i just click the picture at the bottom i think....
The nukes used in WW2 we're pathetically small compared to the megaton power of nuke technology just a few decades later. Do you think we would have had cold war if there was not a real historic example of the destructive power of nukes? I guarantee that the destruction unleashed by a launch in the 80's would have been far, far more destructive. The only thing that kept the nukes at bay was the assured mutual destruction.
The Soviet Union and America were kept at bay by the lesson learned in Japan. It was a lesson the world had to learn sometime. I'm just glad it was learned in the technology's infancy with a puny nuke, and not with todays modern mega-nukes.
That's what I wonder about Rota..
Why did we make nukes in the first place? Why do we have to make weapons of mass destruction?
Kinda late to the draw, but we needed to drop the nukes, if we didn't japan would keep fighting and who knows what would happened if we didn't.
Gratz Kalent, its a big stepping stone, now you can tell your haters that you didnt spam like the rest of us to reach that mark :D
and yo, since i gotta add something, fat ben pwnt japan
body slam made the island fault to shift and cause mass bunnys hopping
i think that we dropped the nukes to show our power as a country, and to stun the world that, if you mess with the US then you can eat our nukes :P
What amazes me about Japan is their fast recovery from the bombs.
They made the recovery 30 years earlier than smart people hypothesized.
