Defending against a typical Scout bomb

A scout bomb in in essence an attack made only by scouts on a city.

Most or all of the time, players do it to soften up your defenses, namely by killing your archers.



There are ways to counter a scout bomb and take low losses.


First and easiest, if you already have a full wall assembly, with lots of archer towers and layering on the walls, just close the gates and you will easily beat the attack.



Second, if you want you can pad your archers down heavily with warriors, swordsmen, and pikes that way the scouts cannot get to your archers--your most dangerous unit to them...



There are many ways to easily counter a scout bomb, like the ones above.


It would be good if people post effective methods for countering them up on this guide, for the betterment of our new and experienced players alike.

i heard that workers do really good against scout bombs

No, warriors are better I keep 300k warriors for scout bombs. Anyways I suggest 20k swordsmen for bombs.

I hate scout bombs....but in my experiences I used warriors or closed gates.

if online, when scout bomb is coming just move your troops for a walk outside the city and let the scouts hit you, no looses.

you make me wanna find out what scout bombs will do against scouts. i.e., if I move all troops out but scouts only and have no wall defences.

btw, na1 had a bug where scout bombs were leading to 'victory'. I colonized a player that way. I cannot be sure that they have fixed it because I haven't been able to try it on a gates open enemy again, yet. but scouts have gotten 100 round defeat on closed gates so far.

A scout bomb will hit the grouping with the highest total attack.

For example, archer have an attack of 120 so 250k archers have a total of 30,000,000.

In order to counter it, you need to create a group of units with a higher total attack. So for swords (100 attack) need to have OVER 300k to protect 250k archers. Be sure to account for losses or the bombs will then hit archers.

Warriors would need 600k to protect 250k archers.

Pikes would need 200k.

Personally, I use swordsmen because of their higher defence. It means less will be killed as opposed to pikes.

The other troops such as Cavalry or Cataphracts are not worth using to block because of their high-cost.
