I disagree completely. My parents greatly respect my privacy, and I do not think it is appropriate for a parent to monitor their kids social life... whether online or not. I hear stories about parents reading txts, blogs, diaries... etc. Now, if they have permission, that's a different story. However, I do not think a kid should be restricted to the point where they must always feel someone is watching them.
It is an invasion of privacy to view your childs "Doings on a computer." We, or THEY, (Since Im 107...) Need space... and the knowledge that they can speak freely without being pressured into becoming someone they aren't, simply as an act for their parents.
So, since Im assuming you are, or either plan to be, a mother... let your kids socially develop on their own, dont go into paranoid-parent mode. You don't need to guide your children every step of the way. Sometimes they can handle life themselves... and if they have something that they are not comfortable with on the internet, or at school, trust them to tell you.
*cough*cough* just be on the lookout for this guy

not sure if someone else replied to this already.
The one benefit of evony is that it is not like some random game where you make an action and BAM! its done. It takes time to do everything, when i reached end game with my cities, NPC's and armies, i was just starting school again, so i could focus less on the game and do my homework at the same time. i have cleaned my area out quite a bit so my enemies are usually well over 30 mins to hit, whenever i want to hit, i send and do some homework, timing myself before it hits to make sure of no changes... I only play evony 5 days a week and thats only because im doing homework during those 5 days. fridays and saturdays i hang out with my friends and work.
I have a more rigorious schedule than most children of my age, i have 4 a.p. classes, 3 sports, boys scouts, work, and still have friends to hang with. so it makes sense i only get 2 days off a week to work and hang with friends while spending the other 5 days doing homework and playing sports....
hope that answers your question
I can imagine ;) I would like to agree with your position on parents - I wouldnt let my teen play, and not because I am trying to control anything, but I know the kind of chatter that I have seen ;) *cough*
