Civilizations

Im rather curious about your input on ancient civilization. Who would you say was the most successful during their time period. Stable government, unified religion, strong army....

there is a whole list of civilizations that were prosperous during their times... Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Mayans....etc etc, there are so many to chose from and would like to hear your input about which civilization was most successful when they were around...

Also, wanted to see if i could lure Conrad into posting here ;)

For all the mystery of the Parthian dynasty there was none who had such effective fighting strategy's as well as the worlds most diverse and tolerant society.

The Inka (sometimes called Inca), definitely. They set up a collectivized society so efficient that they had huge surpluses of manufactured goods and so much spare labor that they built highways all over the Andes. Their military was without peers in the area and conquered all major nearby civilizations.

Of course, there's the obvious point of their empire falling to Pizarro, who had only a few hundred men. There were numerous causes of that, not least of which were the massive numbers of deaths from plague, the technological advantages of the Spaniards, and the power struggle under way for control (during which one side [temporarily] allied with the invaders).

Still, at their height, the Inca army could compete with most others in the world at the time, even considering their lack of worked metal, mounted troops, and siege engines.

A great civilization, the Native North American peoples. They took only what they needed, no more. They had strong senses of unity, family, loyalty, and honor. They were peaceful (for the most part) and they were without the self-corrupting influence of money. Unfortunately, they were destroyed by the greed of the pale faces and most of their culture has been lost.

The Japanese.
In particular the samurai.
Sengoku period is where (time frame) one heck a battle took place;
In the Sengoku period the battles of Kawanakajima 7000+ men died, with over 100 000 warriors participating in the 5 battles.
I just find it amazing how so many men can be brave enough to do for there clan.

Seriously I think the Romans where the most advanced military as they fought hard and worked together

The Dacians were very successful but they sided with pompeii and lost :(
