Rose medal drop rates suck. Ppl are still having success finding them, just need to be speedy. Scout bombing is a speedy strategy. M'b u shud look into it. But I really wish that rose were easier for ppl to find.
My point with all ^ being, it's how it is and complaining only gets you so far. Ppl figure this stuff out all the time, sometimes you just need to get creative. Set formulae for anything are a bad idea when ur looking at a game of chance. ESP with evony's odds. It will get very boring and frustrating. Try crazy stuff, take a break from medal farming, let it just surprise u one day :)
Lol. I was never complaining (for the record), just making the point that the drop rate had changed.
But FWIW, the game is way more fun when there's more random drops. I still never got the things that I really needed, but the drop rate made grinding (=playing) actually worth it.
Sucks that it was an accident. Oh well.
Hehe. Age2 beta was awesome, FWIW. 10x speeds rocked :) maybe evony should have one, just one server with beta settings that let's say resets every month, or even every week :) feeling frustrated, go to na0 and whack the life out of somebody, then back to ur normal :)
PS: it could even have a normal attack mode instead of colonize. Just one server. Only one :) plzzzzzzz
They fixed that so well that I lost the buff from having 10 colonies, it still shows in the colonies tab of achievements but no longer shows in the overview tab.
which is why we say yall are hiding things. you want inflammatory i am sure he and others can show you what that EXACTLY is. he is debating making a point and you cannot handle it. that is not inflammatory.
and your business, per se... if your customers leave because you have made it impossible to obtain treasure that during ads and marketing and interviews your CEO/PR said you can obtain in game without paying any item in shop...well that is no longer true.
state the changes to game. you said you are looking into it, yet you have tons of people saying treasure no longer drops. we know when it dropped and how often (to an extent) and now it does not. it is not probability, or odds, or coin clipping, or statistics...it is simply that something changed either purposefully or accidentally and now there are no drops.
but during that fix, like many of the fixes which produce more bugs.. drops dont drop anymore.
before, i was in beginner protection. and i did not have that treasure drop buff. bc i was in BP. and I did not colonize nor could I. and i was getting drops, at the pre-nerf rate. I colonized few ppl after BP over. drops still the same even with the buff. so now your saying that buff was fixed lowered the rates..and now nothing drops.
come on Dawn..seriously? that's a good attempt but none-the-less treasure ceases to drop at all. maybe 1 in 10,000? ask them if that is their intended drop rate.

Fixed the 'bug' that no-one was unhappy about. Same way they 'fixed' the bug with drop rates on earlier servers in age1.
They lowered the drop rate to increase profits, simple. They advertised in earlier reports that they were providing materials on the wheel and through random drops, however changing 'random' to the level of being hit by a meteorite in a bunker is taking random to the extreme.
And Dawnseeker, while I appreciate the final response, you might consider giving us some credit next time we bring up an embarrassing issue. Stating that no matter how many of us complain, or how much reports we have, or whatever level of proof we can present (given our limited ability to actually prove something) we are wrong, is demeaning in the extreme (especially when we were right 100% in the fact that it was changed and that evony did change it without telling anyone, to make profit).
We are your source of income. We pay your bills. Without us there would be NO evony.
Remember that too. The bulk of the complainers are the players that play most, and care enough to ask why something is broken or 'fixed' in the live (beta) game. We are Evony's FREE testers.
I have no problem with evony earning a profit, as long as the profit is from supplying a GOOD and FAIR service. If we have an issue that we wish to discuss about a problem in the game then being told that we are just complaining minority and don't understand anything is not helpful.
I have spent a lot of coins on evony since civony and enjoyed the game for the most part. And I will continue to support a fair and well maintained game.

Amusing reply from a representative of evony. Are you saying we can only post positive comments on the game, that any problems will be deleted before anyone else sees them. That would be a mistake, a serious one. If players upset with something cannot express it openly then it only ferments and gets worse. While you can have boards for complaints or issues, simply saying we should be quite and be grateful that Evony exists at all is highly overrating this games importance.
You got to remember that this game NEEDs us, not the other way around. Its our money that keeps it going.

dawn, You cannnot just come in and say things were not messed with and that drops are the same as always they are not. we as players are not dumb. when we attack 100 times and get lets say 2 amulets, 1 mich script, speaker 1 lost armor and MAYBE a material. constantly. that gives us a 6-7% drop rate. ok...
then the next day and everyday after that we see 0/100 0/100 0/1000 1/10000. then we KNOW something is screwed up. so we come here, concerned that the game is now flawed bc of something evony did. unbeknownst to yourself, you screwed up the drops. or ninja'd it and hiding that fact from us.
now to see it for yourself: make an account, make a dummy /mock account with the exact same mirror server. do 10-20 hell 100k attacks and see. when you dont get any loot ask yourself 'is this right?'
You guys were right. There was a bug that increased the drop chance of certain items that has been fixed. I promised I would look into it and get back to you. I did so and then I posted what I was told.
and for that I thank you Dawnseeker. and to prove it I just spent more coins.
I run a business as well and I (as well as most players) understand this.
However, making claims that all items can be obtained for free is completely false advertising. Although it is possible, it is totally improbable. From my experience of hitting almost 5,000+ different level valleys and NPCs, I have not once gotten any of the workshop research items.
It would be better if Evony flat-out says that it is not possible to obtain some items without paying.
You're right. It is POSSIBLE. However, it appears highly IMPROBABLE. Two months of HIGHLY ACTIVE playing on server 90-something, I got THREE random drops - two mike scripts and a holy water. It would have taken years for me to get everything in the game at this rate.
I'd love to see the reasoning that says a drop rate of less than 1% is MORE likely to get people to spend money, say, then a drop rate of 10%. I would assume that people purchase specific items. It's really hard to get a specific item on a drop. I figure if people have the money and are willing to spend it, then they will. The low drop rate just makes the game less fun.
Further, I think it would be (was?) a brilliant marketing strategy to have the drop rate high for the first few weeks of the server run (to get people invested, and hooked), then cut way back.
I get amulets at a more than acceptable rate. However I have not had any kind of drop of hero gear material other than lost armour scripts since the first week on na1. I have attacked all types of valleys and NPCs over and over yet I see not a one. Is this an extremely low rate that I should keep trying on or am I missing something? And is it possible to divulge and kind of hint to where I should be looking for these materials?

The ONE claim I am making is this: I send out 100+ attacks per day, and at the end of the day, or usually once during the day, I use all my amulets and roll them at once. Until recently, this was 5-7 amulets per day. Now it is exactly zero amulets per day (well, 1 per day, which is free for logging in).
A change from 5-7 drops down to zero is Significant enough for me to post here, although I cannot prove Statistical Significance, since I dont know all the mathematical components of the equation (drop rate, etc).
I did not overlook this. If you recall from the other thread, where I was the original poster, my first concern was that the change was not announced. You quoted me, and answered "there was no announcement because there was no change".
This game is indeed a business, and I do not fault Evony for wanting to make a profit. On the flip side, I would like to know if the game is changing *before* I spend any more money on it. I also understand that it is a business decision on how much exactly should be "announced" and how much should be changed without announcement. All business decisions affect all customer decisions.
So because it is claimed as a "bug fix" then we are all supposed to be happy and obey the evony gods.
I think its been a con to start... get the players hooked on Age 2 because the drops are far better than on the newer age 1 servers, then once people have invested enough time in the game, drop the rates without saying anything and see if anyone notices.
The amount of materials and gems needed to fully kit out a hero is staggering. I remember back during beta someone worked out how many of everything you would need to level up and the cost of doing so... it was well over 5000 dollars.
Just need to find some common ground on this. I would be happy if it was 1 in 50 NPC's will drop a random non-medal item. At the moment though it's not even 1 in 100.
not even 1 in ten thousand. and the'bug' was not a fix it was purely a decrease in every drop to where not a thing ever drops for anyone anymore...we are talking throughout, me alone 7-8 top alliances of daily players.. then whoever is on the forums.. for oevr week now maybe lets say 5000 players doing who knows how many attacks do not get a single drop?
why even bother having anything drop at all, or saying it does. bc right now it does not. your developers screwed up when they fixed that 'bug'. period.

If it was 1% then someone somewhere might have gotten one sometime in a week of playing. If you know anyone that got one then please let us know (npc and valley hits only). But as Dawnseeker points out we have no knowledge of what the percentage is really as evony never advertises any of its details to users and its their game they can do whatever they want with it, even if its not a good idea (in our view).
They have a marketing plan and they follow it. This thread is now really pointless atm, it was focused on finding out why the change happened and IF it happened. We now know it happened and know why it happened.
I'm can't give out exact drop rates but I guarantee you that your chances of getting an item in battle are much greater than .01%. Again, there's no way for you to calculate this, so please don't claim to know it.
Ok back on Age1 server 49 i used to pay around 60-120 dollars a month drop rates were good say around 10-30% total drop rate on all items combined. then i went to server 97. well evony thought we players werent spending enough so they decided to nerf drop rates on everything so i decided to nerf my spendings to about 30-60 a month if i felt like it. I was not going to spend my money to buy Medal boxes just so i could have more cities as wasnt worth it. then i quit for a few months waiting for Age2 to go live and see if anything had changed. I am now playing age 2 but drop rates for anything besides Gems and courage medals is next to 0. Players are reluctant to spend money to buy medals cuz they dont want to have to pay to keep up with others. Most players would rather farm for medals and buy things like mats, armor scripts, teleporters, excaliburs, and wht not. i for one am fine with a low drop on these such items but a crappy medal drop is just frusturating and annoying ecspecially having to buy them in bulk when i only need 1 lion medal. Medal Drop has been the biggest problem with players across servers for as long as i can remember.

i have hundreds of every medal except justice and nation which im working towards atm. not even kidding can post screenshot, and thats after promotions, donations, and using them as rewards for hero loyalty. literally 100s.. about 300-400 of each.
now from all that ii do not get any drops.. the drops is the issue. for medals you just need to attack more they drop all the damn time.
treasure and loot however, amulets, mich etc do NOT drop. they DONT drop. at all period. materials. forget about it, ill win 1000 cents 5 times in a row off wheel before i see a 2cent material drop.

I don't think anyone here is asking for a specific drop rate.
But my understanding is that the game is based on underlying math. We could collect war reports and statistically determine the drop rate. So, we COULD know it.
But personally, I'm confident enough (based on hundreds of attacks) that the drop rate for random treasure (non-medals, non-gems, but anything else, including workshop materials) is not much greater than 1%.
The drop for workshop materials may be as low as 0.01%. I have no idea. To detect such low probabilities, you need a MASSIVE sample size. But still, the drop rate IS knowable.

actually during that same logic when he stated that nothing has changed, and he was vindicating that he does indeed talk to devs etc, but then as we pushed the issue he actually discussed the issue with someone. so no he probably has nothing to do with them. and as for them saying the drops are fine as they are now...shannagins!
there is no justification for having nearly nothing drop in two weeks of attacks. probably 20,000+ attacks or more and 2 speaker, 1 lost armor, 1 holy water. you want to tell me thats how drops should be? with the buff on.. get outta here.
if evony listens to their customers help the customers out so the customers dont have bad taste in their mouth you would see more active players, instead ppl quitting which in turn leads to people probably buying coins at some point.
earn more coins from people playing your game than quitting and playing another, last time i checked.
