Many differences.
Heroes have been nerfed. You cant have a standard hero greater than level 100 or a historical greater than 150.
Build times for troops, building and research have been severely nerfed so the highest hero you can get in Age 2 will function the same as a Age 1 hero with 140 points. Ie: A 430 attack hero in Age 2 has the same troop build speed as a 140 attack hero in Age 1.
To improve heroes you need armor in Age 2. To make armor you need materials and you need thousands of material to reach end game armor which can set you back up to $500.
Screen color has changed to a repulsively bright blue rather than the passive beige one. So much for playing discreetly any more.
More detail has been put into graphics but rather than getting a games graphic designer they seem to have got an architect to design them, making scale buildings instead of fun looking game buildings.
You cant NPC cities. Just colonise then. You have to wait to attack cities. No instant attack as in Age 1.
You have to deal with autoheal. If you have encountered autoheal bots before you will know this is a game killer.
You have NPC12s, 16s and 18 to capture now. This is the only real positive in Age 2 I can find
These are some of the differences between Age 1 and Age 2. There are more but in a nutshell expect very slow troop, research and construct times, near bulletproof defense when dealing with a well layered autoheal city, bright in your face nauseating graphics, expensive hero upgrades, having to wait to attack someone and not being able to capture and NPC a city.
It's a half hour wait after the initial "Declare War". The "Auto-heal" option in the Rallyspot takes a lot more gold to use than any auto-heal bot ever did. You should be working at work, not playing games on the Internet. The blue is hardly repulsive, and the color scheme is pretty good and much better now than the what it initially was during the Beta. The have a level cap because of leadership, and because Hero Equipment is intended to take their stats higher. This has the benefit of if you lose a level capped hero, it will be easier to replace since you will still have the hero equipment so that when your new hero gets to the right levels you'll be able to simply equip them and get higher stats on them without having to level them to level 500+. There are many things in Age I that broke when a heroes attack reached certain points which is instant troops which were never intended, but side-effects of no level cap on the heroes which is another reason heroes are level-capped in Age II: a matter of balance. While you might find the new building models not fun, some, including me, like them.
It's a wait which you do not have in Age 1
LMAO! You talk about gold like it was scarce. Most players have billions of it lying around. It could cost 100 times more to heal soldiers. People will still have more than enough gold. Auto-heal bots were game killers in Age 1 and they will be in Age 2
But Evonys advertising campaign they say Play Discreetly at Work. It is far easier to play discreetly when you have colors that blend with work applications instead of being starkly contrasting to it like the Age 2 colors.
It's a matter of taste. To me, it is repulsive and like quite a few, causes headaches after extensive viewing.
The fact of the matter is because of the nerfing done to Age 2 someone with a 400 attack hero only has a slight advantage over someone with a 70 attack hero for troop building. Something around 65% quicker build time. That is a joke because there is no real reward for having a top hero.
Instant troops could have easily been fixed in Age 1 with 1 line of code. A line of code after the calculation for troop build time is done which goes if x = 0 then x = 1. A 10 year old could have fixed this issue.
Age 2 is a game designed for the lazy and the hopeless. The people who want to put 30 minutes of work a day into their game and expect the same benefits as someone who puts 8 hours of work into it. I worked bloody hard to get my hero to a level where I have instant warriors and 10 second archers and I get rewarded for that. In Age 2 the same work ethic offer no rewards.
Age 2 is a trucers paradise because they never need to truce because they will never lose anything. Age 2 is like the Special Olympics for players who cant cut it in Age 1 so it is no surprise to see you embrace it so much Ashanta.
I am very good at Age I, but I am playing Age II as we speak. For me, it is a new challenge. I am challenged by the increased difficulty of raising huge armies. The insane difficulty of capturing a Historical City. Although it might fail in many aspects, it is a new challenge, and I want to conquer it.
I wasent angry :p and idk why people put IF, the server before (142) is 90% full, I believe logically that it will be open within days of 142 being full. blah blah blah 143 will come out wait for like 5 days ish at most.

Many do not share your optimism is this regard. In many peoples eyes Evony has abandoned Age 1. Nearly every Age 1 forum has people screaming out for server merges, all in vain. I am not holding my breath waiting for 143 because I honestly believe they will not create this server or merge any existing servers they have. Their overly oppressive moderating towards any topic asking for them to do anything Age 1 related is testament to this. We (Age 1 players) might as well be lepers.
okay, I agree with the fact that Evony is not as focused as they used to be to age I at all, but i still think there going to make 143. Evony has a choice, focus on new stff, or the old stuff. Eventually, they will have to make a choice. Still, there going to make 143. Just wait.
