Do you have some sort of forums Tourette's syndrome? Did you stop, even once, and ask yourself "Is this thing I am about to post utter idiocy and would the collective sanity of mankind be better off if it stayed inside my head?"
(The answer is Yes, by the way...)
Ninjas = assassins.
Props for trying.
Well, no, not at all. Think of it like a Venn diagram. You have ninjas, and you have assassins, and there is a small overlap. Some ninjas are assassins, some assassins are ninjas, but there's no major correlation.
Assassins were from Turkey
Ninja's were from China
I already said that, but in a much more well-reasoned way. Anyways, it's meaningless, as this was an idiotic thread in the first place; whether or not it's a logical fallacy is redundant.
Assassin is a broad range......
psst im a secret ninja/assasin
just to let you know: Ninja = Assasin but Assasin ≠ Ninja
So the obvious answer would be a Ninja!

If you had paid any attention to what I said previously, you'd know that ninjas are not necessarily assassins. There's some overlap, but it's not close to the total.

Q.E.D.
All ninjas are assassins, but not all assassins are ninjas. Therefore, ninja is greater than or equal to assassin.
I would like to take this time to inform you that there are multiple studies that show that wikipedia is in fact as accurate as a standard encyclopedia. The problem is that when people use wikipedia they use wikipedia as their one and only source for information which can lead to misinformation, the same problem exists with other encyclopedias, but is not as prevelent. thats why wikipedia is considered less factual than it truly is.
Additionally I recomend you read what wikipedia is not and Wikipedia Verifiability
And a final note, wikipedia is also found to be "less than factual" because a lot of Reliable sources (not wikipedia) in fact contradict each other because even encyclopedias and experts need to choose what they think is true and false.
Pialpha, in many ways you are right and wrong at the same time, those ways in fact contradict itself. Just like Factual information contradicts other factual information.
Also Axer NZ is also in the wrong for using wikipedia as a sole, primary source. He should also have provided information from another source too.
Along with the Wikipedia articles on Ninjas and Ninjutsu you should also look at THIS too.
I'm bored so I'll post something
I'm going to assume the assassins in question are the Hashshashin, the name assassin came from and the Ninja in question are Shinobi.
And the conflict in question is if the Shinobi and Hashshashin were to go at each other's throat.
In my mind the hash' would win. Their soldiers were more fanatical and well trained throughout. They were more numerous. They had their own cities. Their exploits are more spectacular, laying daggers and poisoned cakes by the heads of hostile leaders while they slept. Proving that they were also intelligent, skilled in psychological warfare and very effective.
The Shinobi on the other hand were much smaller in number and very disorganized. Being made up of actually dozens of families and guilds their efforts would be hindered by a lack of centralization. Assuming they were somehow centralized their tactics would begin to mirror each other. However there are two main differences. That difference would be the use of sleeper cells and the Hash' greater numbers.
I believe what would eventually happen is that at first there would be a series of assassination and counter assassination but as the two groups get used to each others tactics, assassinations would wane.
It would then appear that the Hash' are on the defensive, sabotage perpetrated by the ninja damaging their food supplies, structures and so on. But then the Hash' new sleeper cells, probably recruited from the Japanese peasant rabble, brainwashed and trained. These sleeper cells would have made their way into the Families as servants and whatnot. And at the most opportune time they would strike. Killing the heads of the families and any other high quality targets.
And that would result in the Hash' victory.
Edit: Ninja were also spies and saboteurs.
Firstly, what is the connection between cankerpOOp and cankerp00p? I haz a confused.
Ninjas and assassins are different. Ninjas take out people in secrecy or in shadowy, unseen ways, but assassins are in fact a form of old-skool terrorism where the idea is to kill targets in front of a public (ie: in the town square, etc). So both ninjas and assassins are used to execute targets, but there is a logistical and procedural difference in their methods and philosophy.

I figured it out now. :)
Oh my god. I'm probably wish later that I never got into this, but here it goes...
First of all, Deadliest Warrior is not an accurate source. Great show, but about 60% of their conclusions I have issues with. Also, if the 'assassins' are the Hassassins (see second point, below) then Assassin's Creed is not a valid source either. In fact, if you got any information regarding these two warrior types from a movie or video game, its probably wrong.
Second, I'm going to assume that by assassin you meant the Hassassins of the Middle East. Otherwise, it would be like comparing apples with food. Just wouldn't work.
Third, are we talking about in a one-on-one fight, or if the two groups fought a war against each other?
Ninja, aka Shinobi, were agents trained in stealth who would perform various functions including espionage, sabotage, and, on occasion, assassination of a high-value target. They were good fighters, but their main strength lay in stealth and trickery. The preferred to kill their target, if that was the mission, without actually fighting them. As for who the ninjas actually were, they were usually part of a mercenary clan or guild. There is a common belief that ninjas were originally anti-samurai revolutionary resistance fighters, which may or may not have some element of truth.
The Nizari, or 'Hassassins' as they were called by their enemies, were members of a rebel sub-branch of Shia Muslims. They established a number of independent city-states with the other Muslim kingdoms, and were known for their use of assassination and intimidation. They also used a series of sleeper cells who would infiltrate enemy territory and remain undercover. Although the Hassassins avoided killing innocent bystanders, they often killed the target in public to spread terror. Supposedly, they prefered to use daggers and didn't like poison, bows, etc. There is dispute about whether or not the word 'Hassassin' comes from their use of drugs, but its generally agreed that this was just propaganda started by their enemies and carried to Europe by Crusaders.
Both groups were incredibly secretive, and there arn't many records left. So most of what we know, or think we know, could just as easily be myth as it could fact. So its kind of difficult to compare the two since we don't actually have any solid info.
Personally, I vote ninja.
Based on what we do know rather then who is coolest, Hashashan would win. They are more numerous, better organized and the sleeper cell tactic is a tough one to beat.Quote:
