I get what you are saying Chino. Still, it is yet another option open to the defender. A defender would be foolish not to use all the options he/she has available to them.

On a happier note, thank you to the guy who brought this subject up. Now all the people who did not know about hiding resources in the market during attacks can do so as well.
Well... right now it is the only answer a fairly new player has. Imagine someone fresh out of NP status and the giant 3 miles away sends 30k Balista's, 40k archers and several thousand other troops to rob him. Lets be honest players like that don't do it because they need the 3 or 4 hundred k of resources the newb might have because you could plunder a npc city and get more. They do it to bully someone into quitting the game. I think the devs should put in an option where noobs getting attacked by a giant could pray for Gods help and Depending on the Prestige difference there would be a 30% to 95% chance God would answer that prayer and Smite 95% of the attackers Troops killing them dead. Would that be better for ya? Honestly though here is another serious option the devs might consider. When a new player starts the game they start in a New Player town. They can stay in that town for up to one month when they then must chose a state to live in. While inside the New Player town they can not be attacked by other new players nor can they attack other players while in the new town. All players in this new town would have low level Barb villages to attack in order to polish their skills. If they chose to leave the protection of the new player town before the 30 days was up and wasn't ready then i say they deserve to be attacked. But at least they would be given enough time to Build a decent army and nice wall defenses to make them a far less appealing target to Bully's like you.
Good day
I Say Good Day!!
Dont keep huge amounts of resources then, run them at a minimum, keep buildings and troop queues going
Everyone revolves this topic around new players as victims. You know, I wouldn't care if a player with 20% below my prestige is allowed to do this.
I'm talking about battling your enemies. Because obviously this isn't just a tactic that a new player uses. And to be honest a new player has a less chance of using it. A seasoned player however? Will use this "tactic" every time.
We cannot not do it just because it exists. I am not sore at anyone for doing it. It's there, so use it. Just the same with old medal farming with scout spamming. It was possible, so why not use it?
You are always not available to spam someone to take their town. After the beginning and towards mid game, you sometimes have to travel 3+ hours in order to hit someone. That someone who has been a bully to others. That someone who is raping your friend's town of resources.
I'd like to just come home with something. To suck something away from them.
This is the first game I've played where when someone storm's your castle, you can still be absolutely safe. Usually your army dies, your town buildings are on fire, and your resources stolen or burned to the ground.
It's easy to sympathize with the defender. But is it for the attacker?
Marketplaces were clearly not intended for this, and are being abused.
Warehouses clearly were intended for this, but have been mis-designed in capacity, and are not being used.
Fix the Warehouses.
Not sure if my history is up to date... but when the Germans tried to invade Russia, didn't the Russians retreat and burned all the crops as they did, and though making the German soldiers starve?
In terms of Evony, OK.. so with the market, you get your food back, but similiar tactic. You hide your resource in the market, the aggressor attacks, but have to starve because lack of food.
Surely this is a real life tactic utilised throughout history. If a Village was aware they were going to be attacked by large amounts of barbarians and have no hopes of winning, they'd send their children away to the mountains and hide all valuables where possible (burried underground or something).
So once again in terms of Evony, you hide the resource in market and the attacker arrives, but the resource is hidden and they don't get anything.
Also in history before motorised transport, surely it was the same. Romans go and attack Britain, but as they are travelling by foot hundred of miles away, there's a chance that by the time they arrive, the village they were attacking had gone or migrated, or just made to look abadoned.
Once again in Evony attacker chooses whether he wants to send his 14k ballistas (yes, someone attacked me with that many!) against a city 2 hrs away, and find when he gets there, the victin has his resource hidden in market and resource production set to 0. Looks like he arrived at an abadoned city. Tough look.
So hiding resource in market... can translate into real life terms, is reasonable and as people have mentioned, have limits.
On the flip side however, Market shouldn't really be designed this way, but if they fix this, they also need to fix warehouse and also the fact that bullies should not be able to support 14K ballistas and be able to walk all over anyone without 14K ballistas.
Use of the market to hide supplies is simply a matter of improvisation and, to a certain extent, should be applauded. I have said it before and I will say it again; Improvise, adapt and overcome. It isn't 'abuse' of the markets at all. It is simply smart strategy. Whether or not this is the intended purpose of the market is quite irrelevant.
I think you are all complaining about the wrong thing. Like most games when you are to go to bed or to work you would spend most of your resources first anyway. Active players would not leave resources sitting around. Inactive players make better targets.
The aim of this game is to become more powerful than the other guy.
Stealing the other guys resources is only one way to accomplish this.
Other players are not the only place to steal/gain resources.
There are other ways of becoming stronger than your neighbour. One way is to make him weaker than yourself.
Just an FYI. I just got plundered with 300k in the marketplace and the guy got the cash and my trade got cancelled. So they might have ninja fixed this.
