Everyone is grey to each other and only Blue to their sisters. Then each alliance declare against 1 other alliance, not 10 alliances against 1. Each alliance can show it's stuff in a real war. not a massacre. This is a War Game and peace is killing the fun. What say all of you?
I am here NOT to dispute your good reasoning about Evony wargame and how
coalitions can spoil the game for everyone. Here's only my opinion for our
reflection; it may add to your opinion, it may not. Wherever this poet may
sound harsh, mother, forgive me.

ADD NOTE: Let us all read this article slowly, very slowly, word by word, line by
line, very slowly and calmly, and refrain from making up your mind, yet, until
you get to the final line. This thing I will say is probably very new to Evony life
circle, probably an evolution of some idea from which more good things can
spring to existence, or it could be the beginning of a new evil in Server 28. So
take a deep breath. One more deep breath, another one. We shall begin.

BOTH EXTREMES
Devils and gentlemen, being among the first generation of characters in World
86-extension/ammendment-World 28 -- when the Server 86 came into being
last October --, I think I can say I am privileged to be among the lucky few who
have been to the two extremes of alliance development.
At one extreme, I saw the battlefield from the nervous eyes of a weak alliance
when a big, strong alliance brought war to us. It was not a pleasant sight; I
nearly quit the server. This being my first server, my first try at Evony game for
that matter, I nearly quit the game as well.
Later in the game, at the other extreme, I viewed the battlefield from the
perspective of a top-notch war alliance -- confident and able --, as we ravaged
hostile territories, displaced many people, conquered their cities, stole their
heroes, put to death their alliance. Quite strangely I nearly quit the game as
well... as the outcome of the battle become predictable in nearly all cases; the
thrill in playing is lost. Also lost were the 'day of reckoning', the 'moment of
truth', the 50-50 chances of winning, the adrenalin rush...
Between these two styles of playing of course the offensive team savours the
best of excitement in the nearly one-sided affair. For one thing we being the
invaders don't have much at stake; all that we're willing to lose are stacked in
the war city, if the enemy can take them. For another thing, because we can
choose when to sleep and when to attack while at the other side of the
battlefield the defenders wait in agony for their death sentence as truce
agreement is nearing deadline. Indeed, the best defense is offense.
Yet either extreme can make one wants to quit the game. When we're too weak
for the opponents we see it's pointless to continue losing. When the opponents
are too weak for us we see it's pointless to continue winning. LOL, well, maybe
it's just me.
NOT ON PAR
As the server gets older, nearing its 1st anniversary now, I thought all alliances
had by now the proper structure of offense and defense. A wrong perception.
The difference in troops development, cities development, technology
development etc... between players in Page 1 alliances and players in bottom-
rank alliances is still as wide as night and day.
I am now with Alliance king in Upper Lorraine. It's a 'noob alliance' if I may put it
that way, if it is to be compared with alliances such as CENTAURS and
Diamonds. None of the king members can transport to or reinforce my cities,
for lack of prestige. I'm here to help my friend, Armored, to rebuild his alliance.
They had been getting constant harrasment from their stronger neighbours,
many times losing cities and heroes to the predators. They were active in the
game but most of their time online are spent on upgrading cities, converting
NPCs, levelling up heroes... yet even then they are not sure how long can they
keep the cities and heroes before the big bullies visit them, again. Just ask
RIDDINGHD, he had lost many good cities that he nearly quit the server.
The constant harrasments made against the king folks have delayed their game.
Here, in this alliance, people are still getting excited about upgrading to
Compass lvl 7 while I know my friends in CENTAURS have acquired the
technologies and buildings that can even build catapults and they are privileged
with privateering lvl 10 since last year. I see a stark contrast between two types
of players here.
At one part of the world people are talking about barbing enemy's cities, they
even held a tournament among themselves to see who can capture the most
number of red cities. But here in this other part of the world even a newly
captured npc 5 is good enough for a city, and all they could think of next time
they come online is to complete the next Quest.
What I'm trying to say, devils and gentlemen, is we are still not on level term
with one another in term of game development, with neighbour nearest to us
even. No doubt this is a wargame where the tall order is to kill or be killed, and
many fighters are taking pride in their 'war trophies'. But what is there to be
proud of if the 'trophy' is somebody who could not even shoot arrows beyond 3
miles or whose cavs could not even overtake your transports? No, don't get
me wrong. I'm not saying you cannot attack noobs; I'm not here to dictate
one's style of play.
All I'm saying is "would you be kind enough to give me 100 noobs for me to put
in my 'nursery', yes a NURSERY. I watch over them as they build up their cities
and technologies, and later upon their 'graduation' I will release them to the
open world where they can strut their stuff as competent as everyone."

ADD NOTE: I have discussed this with my friend Armored, host of Alliance king.
In principle we both agreed that we can host some kind of a nursery for players
who required the nursery. But we're only two brains to can plan for every
aspect of the 'institution'. Hence my posting this idea here, so everyone can
give some suggestions on how we can develop this idea to its completion.
