this thread gives usefull information about how leadership works :

Every pt of leadership = 1k troop you can command and get full stats bonus.
if you have 120k archers with a hero with 100 leadership your hero stats will be diminished accounting for the fact that you have more troops than you can effectively command.
From what that guy tested it has effect on offense and on defense...( a nice side effect being that if you have 1 million archers in your city and get attaqued by lets say 100k archers, you would have bigger losses than if you only had 500k archers defending :P).
One interesting observation the guy made is that it was per troop stack.
So a hero with 100 leaderships won't get his full stats commanding 120k archers, but would get full stats commanding 60k warriors with 60k archers...
Err actually I should have said 20k lds not 20 millions...

Ohh oops, I should have said 20k too, lol. But the question is... let's say your hero has 200 leadership and you send 100k troops.. do they get 2x whatever bonus they normally get? And how do we know that the King's leadership is actually higher than we think it is? Maybe that's why you don't kill as many troops against a lv 14 as you would against a lv 12.
Trying to keep taking Atlantis secret would be the biggest issue.
Mainly because any alliance worth it's salt on the server will seek to prevent it. No one wants that city hovering over them.
So the counter to this is park a watcher city near Atlantis and wait. Do not even bother until the 16s are taken, assuming they can be.
When the big attack is finally launched, scout along with the rest and mix your own waves into their final waves. You have a good chance of making the cap too. If you do win it, abandon all your cities but Atlantis, and then it cannot be taken away.
If you cannot abandon your last normal city abandon Atlantis. Problem solved.

I don't think it will be possible to just abandon all your cities and have Atlantis in control. I'm positive they have already worked around this.
And if you abandon a H-city, it will likely just become a NPC H-city again, not a flat or NPC :P
