You point out a big flaw in the game design and hopefully someone at Evony will see this and understand what you are saying and make the correction.
Like I said, a reasonable amount of time needs to be given. Just because a players prestige does not grow for a few weeks does not mean they are inactive or deserve to lose any captive heros. So how long is a fair holding time for persuasion? 2 weeks? 1 month? 3 months? You need to consider casual players who may need a much longer time to farm for medals in order for persuasion. And some of those medals will take a long time to get if they only drop in level 10 NPC's and the player only has 1-2 cities.
Also, as far as inactive accounts where the player does not login... I am sure Evony is looking at this. A reasonable amount of time needs to be given before an account is deleted. I mean, normal people DO travel to Europe for 1 month at times. But is a hard 30 day rule good? Perhaps a player starts a server and sets up near 0,0 to claim the spot. But does not plan to actually be an active player on that server until 6 weeks from now. What about situations like those?
Player's should be allowed a "reasonable" amount of time to persuade? I agree, all heroes, Historic or normal, should be left in captive status for a week. If you haven't persuaded a hero within a week of capturing that hero, then it needs to go back into the general population. Regardless of whether or not is a historic hero.
If you spent money to capture that hero, too bad. You shouldn't be actively searching for and capturing HH unless you are ready for them. If you captured one fortuitously from your suzerain (as you stated) or some other happy circumstance, great, you get a week to persuade and make yours or you miss your happy chance.
I understand that some people have low activity levels but let's face it, if they have a low activity level, and they take 3 months to finally persuade the hero, how much longer after that before someone comes along and takes the HH from them anyway...

Oh yeah, and one more thing. As to the comment about people going away for work or vacation or whatever for 2 weeks or even a month at a time...
Why should such people be given an extra protection on a hero they've captured but not persuaded over the same type of person that has captured a hero AND persuaded them. That person could be attacked in the 2 weeks to a month they're gone and lose the HH they paid for but the person who can't/won't persuade their HH does get to keep theirs? That wouldn't be right.
Well, I really dont have an answer. All I can say is that life and paychecks and bills happen. 1 week seems a little tight to me. If I was calling the shot I would push for 2 weeks. I mean, payday comes every 2 weeks for most people. And I think 2 weeks is plenty of time to hit some level 10s and get national and justice. And some level 7s for some wisdom and freedom. All of which are required for persuading high level heros. So 2 weeks for payday so paying players can purchase medal boxes and 2 weeks for free players to medal hunt. So both groups get two weeks.
I disagree. What you are failing to remember is that this game is in constant motion and does not stop. So, the pace is dictated by the people who either spend the most money or have the most time to play. It sucks for those that can't play this way but it is how the game works. They shouldn't have to wait for us to catch up to them.
what some of u arent relizing is that evony has god awful drop rates for non paying players it could take 2 weeks to get from knight to baronet iv seen people play for months stuck at knight but after 2-4 weeks captive heros should be thrown back or.....we should be able to capture them
How do you know that player has been inactive for 2 months? If they have logged in here and there like once a week but didn't do anything then they could appear to be inactive, right? So the only real way to tell is by checking login logs. Not by checking prestige or city growth.

Guys, a player who logs in is not inactive. Perhaps the player setup some cities on the server when it first opened, yet does not plan to be very active for another 3 months or so until they finish a war or project on another server. So in cases like that you will have cities with low pres that seem inactive.
Again, prestige and city growth alone do not measure activity. You need to consider logins... which you are not.
trying man, it is actually a real issue with age2 and needs to be fixed. such simple solution too. make captive heroes able to be capped when your suzerain of city. you can sow discord and capture all the hh that are in captive status and also any normal heroes that u defeated and are in the city your defending with YOUR troops, and now its in the guy you suz'ed feasting hall. i got like 6-7 good lvl 90-100 heroes plus the HH waiting on this fix...come on evony get it together
But there needs to be a time limit. A Suzerain should not be able to capture captive heros in feasting hall if the captive hero has only been in the feasting hall for a short period of time. I mean, heck man, give the player a chance to persuade. I think you mentioned a 2-4 week period. After 2-4 weeks of a hero being captive in feasting hall it is released into general pop.
a normal hero when released is just deleted and historic yes back into population but it never happens
and you should be able to persuade on day1. who cares if the colony can or dont play etc, why would you defend inactive players on this subject and come and chime in on every thread and reply when you offer nothing to any subject.

I am not defending inactive players. I am saying that heros in the feasting hall that are captive status should not be available for capture by Sow Discord until they have spent "x" time in captive status. If a player JUST captured a hero what gives you the right to be able to sow discord and take it the same day they captured it?? You think that is fair?? A player has a Suzerain and they want to get rid of the Suzerain. So they spend game coins to capture a good hero. But the second they capture it you sow discord and take it. How is that fair? Again, I am not arguing inactive players. I am just saying that you need to give players time to persuade their heros.

Yes. A Player in my Alliance Poached a hero out of one of his Suz'd Cities And I capped one that was thrown at me in an Attack. I guess it is just luck of the draw. I Had Suz'd a city with a Holy helm hero in it, First time I sow'd I got it. tried for a 73 Base Poly and it took me 15 days to get.
Now if it is in Captive status.... Does it show in feasting hall when you look at your Suz'd city and check the hero's? If it does then by All rights you should be able to poach it. If it doesn't show then that would be a problem...... I'd say Drive the city down to zero loyalty by releasing it as a Colony then hitting it non stop ( IF You don't take control of the city when the 8 hour wait is up you can go again ) And I have seen players on my AgeII Server throw 3 or 4 waves at a city when no defending troops and each hits and lowers loyalty. After All if a city is at 0 loyalty for a week or 2 I think it is Evony delete ( Depends on pres ) BUT If they spent real $$$$ You may be up the creek getting that hero
I am having trouble sowing HH's that are not even captive. has anyone experienced this? 8 sows so far and nada. I used 2 loyalty gems. I have sowed ALL normal hero's and now nothing happens on a sow. I have a feasting slot open when I sow (duh).
This dude (while inactive) had 400k archers & was 350miles away. It took a month of prep to take all of them down + his melee defenses. So this is really frustrating.

Was those 15 sows (for the pol HH) on a colony? and did you sow when all normal hero's were gone and still got nothing for a while?
do you have the portrait of the hero you are trying to get? (spending the cents on the hero)
sows work just fine for non captive status HHs, the one in question for me is in captive status and IMPOSSIBLE to cap
sounds like 2 issues.
the bigger problem is that inactive players aren't being removed. this should be changed, there are loads and loads of inactive players. there are a number of former alliance members around me that hadn't logged in for a month when we kicked them, and over a month later their cities are still there.
The captive hero is a separate issue. it makes perfect sense for a captive hero not to be persuaded by a sow discord, he's a captive and thus has no loyalty to the lord holding him captive in the first place. that said, there should be a means of taking a captive HH from a player who has not (or cannot) persuade him.
Yeah, but only after "x" amount of time has passed. Allowing captive heros to be taken by other players from the second they are captive status would introduce a whole nother set of problems.
So I say just make it simple like this.... "If a hero is in captive status for more than "x" time then that hero gets automatically released."
Done deal.
