Another case of UMGE showing absolutely no concern for its players. This isn't like medals, this is worse. Making a quick and sudden change to medals hurt us, but it didn't cripple us. We had grown accustomed to barb farming (not just for resources) but mainly to upkeep our armies. They decide to throw a game changing curveball at us that will make our units starve while we figure out how to cope with it. Thanks guys!
I challenge someone here to find a player with significant armies that doesn't depends on Barb towns for a good portion of their food and/or resources.
lol I TOLD you guys they would nerf this before things like the constant crashing, lag, and loss of troops during resets/crashes would get addressed.
So now that npc towns don't give enough food, I hope you smaller players are ready for all the big dogs to turn their attention to you, to either use up their armies or grab your food.
hehe now my 37 lvl 9 farms are looking pretty good :P
It's definitely nerfed as it came out after the security maintenance. It now regenerates fully approximately every 22-24 hours.
The stuff you get is still decent, just nothing spectacular as before. You still get the same hero exp ^^
we must protest to this
the npc spawn is now 24 hrs??
how are we going to play
they just love to take out the fun elements all the time till theres nothing left!!!
Guess you'll just have to start hitting your neighbors.
It's pretty obvious how to cope with it. Make more barbs in the area around your cities, and farm harder for fewer resources.
I hate barb farming. I've previously only said privately that I hate it, in fear that if the game developers realized how broken it was, they'd do exactly this. The reason I hated it though was because it is tedious and boring. Click click click - free resources! Repeat ad nauseam. If they want to curb barb farming, they need to lower the food cost of unit upkeep. This will just increase the tedium of barb farming.
Personally I believe this to be a good move. It will force players to start either waiting for their own production or strike other players.
its definately unfair for new player becoz this means more new player will die due to unable to build and sustain a large army..thx UMGE..ur so NOOB in web-brower game developement..
No other game-sites that implement new features in old server WITHOUT informing your player...
your not respecting yoru customer at all
STUPID:mad:
^^blame the one that complain.
It means new players will have to learn, and learn fast.
Well, this is going to be a very bad week for under 200k pres players.
Should fix server lag when a bunch of people quit though :)
screenshot from a couple of days ago, negative 4 million food per hour in a city with no allied troops garrisoned
I attack other players already. My honor ranking is proof enough that I don't merely sit around all day farming. Barb farming is a necessary evil to support a large army (or even a mediocre army), and I know I would be attacking other people more if I didn't spend so much time hitting the barbs for resources.
Yeah, thats pretty much the only option. Burn your troops honor farming while they last. That means attacking everyone with less then 200k pres until their gates open at 5 loyalty.
Capping and abandoning to make more NPCs is the other choice, which really is just taking choice one an extra step.
Ahh well. My server is done now. Maybe they are just going to call it a bug and fix it.
Man am I tired of Civoney fixing things.
It seems the small minority with the loudest voices have successfully convinced the Evony staff to shoot themselves in the foot.
It's easy to nerf NPC towns, but this will most certainly hurt newer or weaker players and force large alliances to pick on the small ones. I've grew powerful safely due to powerful players farming NPCS (and by playing simcity, no less) and now that barb cities don't provide as much, many of us, including the nice ones, are having to resort to farming off weaker players and forcing them to quit the game.
I'm not sure about the other players, but I have the impression that players with large armies are too busy fighting wars to stomp on newer players (although I'm sure there are a few). A lot of these wars are long-distance wars, so the army not only needs a ton of food, but it takes hours for the army to return, if it ever returns. Now that it's far more difficult to fund these wars, perhaps many people will war with weaker neighbors.
Out of frustration, many players are already destroying cities of weaker players, even after plundering all its worth and not wanting such a city. Resources generated from cities are simply not enough to support even a mediocre army, as Emmy mentioned.
NPC cities also helped give this game a point. Play the game like simcity until getting strong enough to farm, farm to raise a real army, raise a real army and play a war game. Now it's just sit and play simcity forever, or raise an army and watch them disband within an hour.
Cool.
Has anyone seen the good side of this?
Won't it be easier to take over lvl 10 barb towns now? Am I missing something?
it's only the resources that respawn slower, if i understand correctly
Two things, a level 10 barb town is a meaningless capture because it has so many useless cottages in it (that's a LOT of deleveling). Secondly the defenses regenerate at the same rate, it's just the resources take 12 hours, I did the math, to get back to normal.
it was never hard.
I'm glad there was a nerf ... but I was more on the side of not being able to plunder barb cities without troop loss, not the resources. Doh!
Figures the one solution they use is the moderators one not very good idea for a fix. I'm guessing he suggested his own idea and no one elses. And surprise surprise, look at the result. Well I'm not a fan of this change, we'll see how it plays out.
just started the whole "make npc towns and farm them like crazy" yesterday. I am on server 8 which is less than a week old.
I am delighted that npc farming has been nerfed. It was ridiculously profitable. Plus it required constant attention which drives me nuts.
20 npc towns at average 50K gold an hour equaled 1 million gold per hour, (or 24 million gold a day if you never slept) in a one week old server.
Game breaking.
Now we have to actually play the game instead of just farming.
And weak players are supposed to be attacked, not ignored.
This will be good on the servers that just start. S7, S8, S9 on up. Nobody will have this gross, fat army that just consumes 4 million food an hour like my S3 toon. My S3 toon is bored anyway, nobody will dare attack her.
Server 10 players are sure going to have a nice gameplay when it comes out that is ;)
Server 10? I thought servers 16-20 were due out next week ;)
