It looks like they only changed the respawn rate for the higher level ones. Will have to do some more research to get exact rates per level. Walls are better able to defend against ballista's though, so the ballista farming guide is obsolete.

This is exactly how I feel. The players, me included, used NPC farming to circumvent so many aspects of the game. In a game like this when others are doing it and it is so powerful if you don't then you can be easily crushed.
Something had to be done. I'm not sold on the solution but for the long term health of the game something had to be done.
Well, so long to the 20k ballistas i had... i guess i should make more archers to farm other players... :(
The ballista's are just as effective against PC villages as they were NPC's. You just need a meat shield for them. I really hope you didn't lose 20k. If that happend to me, I would have written to the devs about how their neglecting to inform players about massive system changes in a supposedly non-BETA game, is destroying gameplay that will only drive players away, then quit. These changes border on making the game unplayable as one system change destroys days of troop building.
I think he mostly meant ballistas have terrible food efficiency. You'd do better if limited by food to have archers for a standing army. My assumption of course.
Well a few points:
1) The respawn rate is the same for all levels. It is 4.2% per hour of the original total. (it is .42% / 6 mins or .07% every minute, not sure how frequently it updates, might be realtime).
2) Yes walls are more durable, it does not obselete the guide at all however. The first 10-15 rounds is spent killing defenses and units, that remains unchanged (unless you meant towers are more resistant, I'm unsure about this). So if the walls take a little longer to kill that only means the lowest levels need tweaking to a minimum value required to destroy walls, and I suspect not much tweaking at that. Thus far I've not changed any of my numbers and succeeded without loss every time, and I use similar values to the guides. All guides are YMMV so I'd hardly say "obsolete"
1. If that's true, then why are my level 1 NPC farms regenerating 100% every hour, but the Lv 5 ones aren't?
2. The ballista farming guild is now full of players using the numbers listed, but getting the 100 round instant kill when yesterday would win in only half the time.
Not at all true. The fact is that now we need a way to feed our armies, and if farming other players is the only way to do it then that is what will become necessary.
Sure, I could be "nice" and not go that route... but then I'll just become a farm for the one who didn't, so I don't have a choice but to maintain my army and my rate of growth. It's that or become a farm myself, and I won't do that without the strongest resistance I can muster.
Not to call you a liar but do you have evidence of this? Because I do for mine so it's hard to believe other claims.

EDIT: As to the guide being "full of" people complaining, I see a few names, less than I can count on one hand, and they are using the barest of minimum, they probably have improper tech levels and with a *minor* tweak they could easily begin farming again as before, hardly OBSOLETing the guide. All guides in a game with varying heros and tech levels are YMMV (as I said I understand that it was changed, but it wasnt so huge that your numbers need to change that much)

26 min. apart. First attack got 16500 gold(have been farming it none stop. Thus the lack of 55k gold) Second one got 27500. That's 50% exactly in 26 min.
