you've lived in the dc area? in what parts? tacoma? embassy row? dupont circle?

Well..."close" to DC. Closer to Fredericksburg, VA. Close enough to have parents that commute to DC for work.

I considered myself to be near DC though. I would go there a lot after I reached like 17/18 years old.

This isn't 1956. People don't subscribe to the paper anymore. Especially in Washington.

I haven't been back there in years though.

My parents just sold their house there, amazingly enough, and are retiring.

It was in a suburb about 15 miles north of Fredericksburg. It wasn't suburban sprawl when I was going to middle school there....but by the time I graduated HS it was pretty much just another neighborhood of the greater DC megalopolis. Even though it's 35 miles south.

edit@Dawnseeker: I knew someone would bring that up. Fine, it was a horrible example. But what if some 17 year old kid worked the midnight shift at some factory?

think again... there is still a loyal following.. keep in mind, they happen to have great grandchildren or live in embassies... but the papers still have a good following... and good circulation numbers too...

Man I miss the Washington Post. They don't deliver out here.

And I can only get the Times on Sundays.
