Dear Evony Reps,
When I first came to Evony 4 months ago I saw an Ad that had a picture of a woman with large breasts. I thought this game was like some sort of SimCity p0rn game. So I came to the forums and went to the GAME section because it said "Everything about the game". But there was nothing explaining the game or giving me an overview. After reading the forums I soon learned it was a war game, but that was about it. I had no understanding of the overall game concept. And to be honest, many experienced players still do not have a firm grasp on the overall concept of the game. So Evony really needs some sort of Game Intro or Game Summary. Feel free to use what I wrote below and put it in the Game Forum. Or write something up yourself. But there really needs to be some sort of Game intro or game overview. It will really help new players enter the game with their head around it by understanding the large picture. And who knows, as a result less players may quit and more people may be interested in playing it if a proper game summary/into exists. Evony has really fallen short on this. But as for the technical aspects of the game, they are well covered in the forums.
-Love, Bruticus.
What is Evony Age II?
Evony Age II is an online game. It can be played by a wide audience of people from children to adults. It can be played as a simple city building game or an aggressive empire building game or a strategic war game or all of the above. Every player has the ability to play Evony Age II in a style that is comfortable to them and fits their schedule.
Think of Evony Age II as a piano. A piano can be played by young children or adults. It can be played as a sophisticated musical instrument or it can be played as a simple musical toy. It can be played in a number of styles like jazz, classical, swing, blues or pop. The piano player can decide how simple or how complex they wish to play. They can decide how many minutes or hours they will play. They can advance their playing level slowly or quickly by dedicating less or more time to the instrument. Every player can enjoy themselves and experience fun and challenges playing at their level and in their style. This illustrates how flexible Evony Age II is. It can be extremely simple or it can be fantastically complex. It all depends on how it is played.
What is the concept of Evony Age II?
The concept of Evony Age II is that of a Kingdom. Each Kingdom is divided into states. Each player within the Kingdom may build up to 10 cities at any location within the Kingdom. Strong players become rulers over a certain area or players. Players may be allies of a ruler or subjects of a ruler. Kingdom rulers may impose various things upon their subjects, but not upon their allies. As with any Kingdom, the subjects of a particular ruler may be unhappy with that ruler. As a result the subjects may rebel and attempt to overthrow their ruler. They can do this on their own or get others to help them in the rebellion. Allies of the ruler may help the ruler fight against any rebellions. Or, allies may also become unhappy and join the rebellion.
In Evony Age II there are competing rulers and alliances. Often times they go to war with each other. They typically fight over territory and resources.
Evony Age II also has Barbarians. Every player may attack a Barbarian city and steal it?s resources or attempt to capture the city. Barbarian cities are computer generated cities that are not owned or controlled by any player.
In Evony Age II you can play one of many roles:
1. A Ruler (Also known as a Suzerain)
2. An Ally of a ruler (also known as an alliance member or sister alliance member)
3. A Subject (a player who is under the domain of a ruler)
4. A neutral player (not a subject, not an ally)
5. A Spy (someone who spies on subjects, rulers and other alliances)
6. Someone who only attacks Barbarian cities
? and many more.
As you can see, you can play Evony Age II as:
1. An aggressive and overbearing ruler who imposes many things upon their subjects.
2. A happy subject of a ruler who enjoys building cities and farms.
3. A rebel attempting to overthrow a ruler (on your own or with others).
4. A kind and passive ruler who imposes nothing upon their subjects.
5. A neutral player who has no alliance and no ruler.
?and many more.
Evony Age II is very flexible. You can spend a few minutes per week playing it or hour upon hour everyday. You can develop short-term or long-term strategies and goals. You can play it as a simple building game or a strategic war game. Evony Age II is a very complex game, just like a piano is a complex musical instrument. But people of all ages can have fun learning to play it at their own pace and in their own style. The level of sophistication and style you wish to play all depends on you.
