Depends upon your heros, their numbers and attack ratings. If you have to send 7 100k waves to break a 12, but only have 4 good attack heroes, then you are better off making those 4 heroes count as much as possible. Against a a 14, the difference between your good heroes and your average ones can be even more pronounced.
