You know guys, Hyena and wpack10 are entitled to give their opinions without getting flamed for it. I don't exactly like what they said but I won't have a go at them for it.
o hai guise, wats goin on in here
*noms hyena*
Oh hai! :) noms are fun ;)
Agreed. And lets reiterate for those of us that can't grasp this concept. Instigating, and flaming, and acting like children, and continuously breaking forum rules will get even THIS topic closed.
If your intention is to troll each other until all your feedback is void and ruin it for everyone else, you won't keep many friends in this community.
PLEASE stop the drama and be constructive in this thread, or at least polite. If this is how you want to portray the "Future of Off-Topic" they will remove Off-Topic, and I highly doubt you want that.
Instead of getting your tomatoes ready to throw at me, remember even if we agree to disagree, very few of us would ever want this thread or section closed, amidst the spam threads there's a real community with a life of its own. Don't defile that with petty bickering please.
I am sorry. :( I will remember next time to let you do the work while I sit back and make muffins.
Why not?

I dont envy the task of the moderators
I dont envy your reputation situation
I envy his reputation.
Guys, let's get this thread back on track...
To start doing so, I'll agree with the mods that yeah, many of us have been bad kids, and even stolen from the cookie jar. Yeah, that means that we're all under the radar, even those (like me) who've been good people most of the time and tried not to spam if we could help it.
I agree with the mods that yes, the duplicates can and will be abused by trolls old, new, and ugly alike. I say that they don't exist, and in worse cases, red rep goes around. However, not all of us should take the punishment of the actions of those handful who have chosen to misbehave with consistency.
To the good guys, I know it's gonna be tough, and that you may occasionally be frustrated with people for not being humans, but trolls and spammers instead. It may be frustrating to see a mod clapping a troll in chains around every alley, but it's for the best, and rest assured that you won't get the silver bracelets either.
To the bad guys (aka the trolls and spammers), you're the reason that the mods are getting frustrated. Yeah, humor's alright, and random conversation is too in SOME PLACES, but not all. You need to curb yourselves, and try to show restraint like the experienced posters you know you are.
To the older posters, please set an example that everyone will be proud to follow. I know that this isn't a mod chatting to you, but you know as well as I that what I am saying is just as much common sense as it can get to...
To the newer ones, don't be discouraged by a red rep bar, or even a warning or infraction from a mod. It's not the end of the world to get one of those. You can still get back up again, and walk the right way. If you need help on something, ask for it. People are never far away at any hours of the day or night to give you assistance on things you may need. (And no, it doesn't always have to be a mod.)
To those who would rather be downright ugly and profane on these forums, you'll deserve what you'll get if you don't change. You know that the red rep, the warnings, and the infractions will come after you along with the mods and everyone else with the decency to speak out against wrongdoers on this forum. All I can ask you to do is to stop, and if you can't, don't cause any more pain, and go some place where people won't object to your antics...
Again, to all of my fellow posters, the mods in the end aren't going to be the ones that will change OT. No matter how many infractions and warnings they give out, in the end it won't make a difference at all if we all just accept rude and inappropriate behavior on the Forums.
It needs to become unacceptable to ALL of us to try to spam on the Forums, or even to hurt another's feelings. If we adopt the same policy the Mods are, WE the people of OT will clean up this mess, and come into a new and better era of freedom and prosperity.
Thank you very much,
Jurnis
I very, very, very, very rarely have anything to say in this forum area, but I would like to mention something...
Very far back in this thread, it was mentioned that the "T" word is used way too much. I wholeheartedly agree with that viewpoint. It seems as though an ever-growing group of people call someone else a "troll" simply because they have a different opinion or the person is not a member of the "in crowd".
Because someone disagrees with you does not make them a troll. Because you or I have an opinion does not make either one of us "right" by default. Also because one takes up a differing / opposing viewpoint, does not mean that it is a bitter battle to the death on a personal level. I've seen many instances of people getting offended over non-personal differences. I tend to stay within the realm of technical topics, so this has more to do with those forum areas instead of this one, but the point still remains that people are far too sensitive. It could possibly be due to the average age of participants, I dunno... I'm basing that guess on the degree of activity in the "back to school" thread. I don't think that's what the title of the thread was, but hopefully people will understand the thread I'm talking about...
Also, I find it ironic that early on there was the discussion about negative rep being restricted to staff only, but yet it was opened up to non-staff. I've been negative repped twice, both times for the same post, which was a knee-jerk reaction by the people doing the negative repping because they interpreted the post to mean one thing when it meant something different. It was an image, describing what I saw as the behavior of an individual that was flaming everyone in the thread, who was calling everyone offering advice to them "stupid". I personally think what I posted was misinterpreted as me talking about myself or me taking a swipe at people other than this person.
Far worse things are posted in this forum (Off-Topic) and some, in the past, were even done by moderators themselves. I semi-sorta lodged a complaint against the negative rep I received, but nothing was done...and I don't really want anything done about it at this point, other than I think the negative repping needs to go back into the hands of employees and Senior Moderators only, and sometime before a larger group of people make it to Duke. It has too much potential for abuse and/or misapplication due to misunderstandings, thus creating an unneeded amount of administrative overhead to deal with any appeals of receiving negative rep if the person thinks they received the rep unfairly.
At any rate, I've taken up probably more of your time than you may have liked, considering my general non-posting in this forum, so I'll leave you to any debating or alternative opinions...
Good day...
i have red rep from dawniekins that i hold close to my heart.

Yes, it is "funny" that you can give out negative rep. It is silly, and it should be removed...

this guys having a bad day too. maybe you can be friends :)
I understand, but you helped make my point...
As for Lazz, early on you too mentioned the mob mentality that happens:
You don't need the postive rep, but I'm going back and repping you for that post. Like I explained elsewhere, the only times I issue rep is when the post is very good, or dares to say that "The Emporer has no clothes", as it were. Your post was a combination of both...

I have to agree on a small topic that Jurnis pointed out.
As many of you may remember, before I became a moderator, I was definitely not the golden child. To say honestly, I am the most warned/infracted moderator on this forums, past and present, as it seems like. I also am probably the most red repped of the moderators, with 4 or 5, depending on knuckles red repping me as well.
Yet, i still work these forums as a greenie. It is not the end of the world to be warned/infracted, but its an area of obvious improvement you need to correct.
