Players would eventually get angry because they could not make NPC's to help feed their armies like Age I. So Evony basically said, "Ok, troops won't die if zero food. So no need to farm like crazy for 5 hours per day like Age I"
Also, Age I never had L12-18 Historical cities. Players need larger armies to cap these than Age I L10's.
I mean, troops not dying from zero food is not a bad thing. It ebables players to take L12-18's in Age II and it also enables colonized players to be able to build an army big enough to overthrow a strong Suzerain.
Will Age II armies have a limit? Yes. Because it takes food to build an army. It also takes food to send an army out to attack. If your cities are always at zero food, you cant use your army very well. Sure, you can buy some food. But will you ba able to buy enough to send out all of your troops and farm and build food back up? There IS a limit and that limit is food.
