The Devs saod in their moderated thread that if they bring the "attack" button to A2. They would make it an optional "opt in" kind of thing. Those that want to use it can only use it against those that also want it. Those that want to stay on the purely colonization option get to stay with that system. I have always worried about a scenario where thw alliances with the "atk" button are at war. But alliance be is sistered by 5 none atk button alliances. So alliance A is going to get wiped out cause alliances C. D. E. F are throwing all their troops at alliance A and alliance B is running in top mop up and raze their extra cities.
That is why I have advocated for better colonization perks. Alliance A should be able to go and virtually shut down all those "farmville" alliances. As some so affectionately call them.
Don't Worry Kaiya when it comes out chances that it will be optional are dropping fast with each new server the put it on without a option.
Im on na21 and the attack button is a great addition. Without NPC's staying anymore (which really blows) I need to be able to feed my armies somehow. I was on one earlier na server as well, and without the attack ability its just flat out boring. Gates are always closed, no one is willing to fight on the older servers and people cry a lot. The new servers amaze me with the amount of people who are trying to do the same with closed gates. Personally I wipe out almost anyone I come across with multiple cities to eliminate a future threat, and wiping out alliances like in age1 is much more fun too. I think they need to enact a few things to the new servers however from na20 on forth. Limit how many HH's any one person can have. Leave NPC's in the game. It helps eliminate the need to plunder noobs who are saving up their resources to build their army when we are able to make an NPC field and farm it. Basically make it age1 with the age2 twists. Cause age1 was beast, but the addition of the progressive building looks, the upper level historic cities, and colonizing is all fun, with armor upgrades too, but taking away the teeth that age1 had will eventually drive people away from the game.
Is there any news on when (if) the attack option will become available to the early age 2 servers? With the recent changes made to historic cities the incentive to continue playing is evaporating - particular for those who have invested a lot of time and money and do not wish to join the new servers.
That is what I am afraid of Spawn. The Devs said in a Dev post that it would be an opt in situation. That is why I spent the money to buy medals and hero gear and 9 adv TP and stuff. Not to mention the time to learn the game. Make allies and form new friendships with people on our server. (Grimmace rocks btw) also add in the fact that I sacrifice my personal troops and resources and time trying to establish a reputable "beginners" alliance for new players who want to chk out Evony and get a lil boost to start. like if someone joins and is willing to rank up after week one to prinz and grab 9 npc 10s I would point them to your alliance. I would say. "Hey grimmace, got a guy over here. Wants to run in your pack. He is wiiling to spend and do whatever to join you. Please email him and tell him how to set up his cities." Or if he wants to log in for 30 minutes a day for a month or two. To feel it out and learn bout it. He can too.
I do not want to be a top player. I also admit that I tend to enjoy the logistic side of things. Like in Eve online. I was a corp/alliance mining coordinator. I organized mining operation of 300 people. I also flew a carrier. So I did a lot of null security transportation for people. I was just about to start up an alliance jump freighter service when I realized I needed to take a break cause I knew more about the game and my rig then I did about anything else. I lost friends cause I always wanted to get one more load of ore into my Rorqual or run one more gate camp. Just for fun.
In evony I did move too fast in my opinion. Learned some thing the wrong way. But I am better for it now. But I never would gotten this far if I did not believe that the Devs would keep their word. I think I may even be the biggest advocate for needing a change to the colonization rewards. As well as the core game. That is why I flood the suggestion forum with ideas. Good or bad. They can be seen and discussed.
You represent the coiners that want to play hard and leave a blazing trail behind you. I represent the coiner that wants more but does not want to left with one city and getting plundered every 5 minutes. That is why I push for the split system and the higher colony benefits and to try to identify the problems before they are implimented. Like people entering atk mode capping your cities and retreating back to colony mode before you get home from work.
I always expected the atk button to come back. Just not the same ole rules as Age 1. What is the purpose of A2 if it is just a no refuge version of Age 1?
You think troops are bad now? Wait til plunder goes into effect. All those inactives? Just Wow. Millions of food out there completely un gaurded. Including the 200 million I kpp in my production city cause it has no farms. Easy fix. Buy food when needed for building. But still. I do not play with no refuge. I feel like it is cheap and exploitive. But that view is slowly changing as my newer members keep getting farmed by noob farmers that want to draft 200 archers and steal crappy heroes. Just cause they can.
lets see pending on how evony wants to "level the playing field" this makes even less sense than taking out all the crap they did they other day bc now they have to know damn with all the ****ed of evony players the last thing we should do is to implement an attack button we already screwed up loosing all the high paying players now with attack button they would loose all the $5-$30 spenders as well from being wiped out from the bigger players outta rage so personally this would also make no sense for them to do even though i am 110% all for an attack button i mean really colonizing is boring but lookin at this from an evony point of view it would just loose them more money when all the smaller players quit thus forcing a some what cluster f******* way to be in bc then less players = more boring then future servers merges which would totally and completely turn everything into chaos

An attack button is hugely needed across the old NA servers. My server is slowly becoming deserted and is getting very stale, majority of my enemies within my state have been colonized yet they stay together although how bad they are and pest you by stealing your valleys etc... Everything has come to a stand still and its starting to get boring. An attack button produces much better pVp's and stops enemies from being annoying.
To be honest, from what i can see, evony completely ignored all the players suggesting a great way to merge the attack option in with the age 2 players: conquest mode/ colonize mode. As they have done this, to roll back the current attack system, they might as well just call it age I, or hell for the same effect just add colonization to age I and call it age II. Again, thats from what i can tell. Im on 22 and 23 and it looks as if anyone can attack anyone just for looing at them funny =/. If i wanted to be crushed because some person larger than me grew bored, there are plenty of other games for that, i appreciated not being able to be anihalated for no reason.
