well there was this girl... LOL jk i am in middle school 8th grade and last year the school had 428 students now it is down to 238 because they are moving students around to different schools. the school used to be 5-8 and the elementary school was k-4 but now the elementary is k-5 and the middle school is 6-8
I in the(near?) future will need major help in math, it puzzle's me how I get A's with ease in other classes yet math just dumbfounds me....
About what level in math, Crappy?
You can't "make" teachers like you, which is unfortunate, I know.
What you can do though, is become a good role model. Teachers always notice students that put in alot of effort, have a good attitude towards what they are doing. What you have to do is put forward as much effort as you can, because that is not only a good work habit, but it will also help produce better quality work, which teachers always appreciate and enjoy.
Even of the teacher still doesn't think much of you, it's probably something more personality based, on your part or their part, which you can't do anything about.
I still remember my one English teacher assigned this small project. It was to create a replica of Pandora's box, but write a different story for it. I remember as I walked out she stopped me, and said
"Don't you dare spend all weekend on this, it's only worth ten marks."
I promised her I wouldn't. Turned out it only took the Saturday. ;)
Needless to say, I got perfect marks on that one.... Hahaha.
well i will have new teachers this year but a harder typing class which i really have to work on finisihing the work i have i only get 35 a minute :/
the reason why the teachers hate me is because i joke around lol
like someone was passing out gum and the teacher smelled it and i said who was passing out gum and didn't give me none. then the teacher looked at me so serious and thats just one of many many
Be yourself. If you act, teachers will tell the difference (assumeing they are doing their job, as opposed to just doing it for the money).
You cannot "make" people like you, and teachers are people. What you can do, is be yourself. As long as "yourself" is not a person who cusses alot, deals drugs, picks fights with other students, or turns your work in late, with little to no effort involved, your teacher should like you just fine (again, assumeing a decent class size, and a teacher who teaches).

My math is grade 10 level, kinda like math Pm, or extra credit, though I think I'm being redirected to normal math or as it is called am.... But I am unsure as to what semester my math is, so it could be like 4 months from now :/
Most of my teachers over the years have, outwardly at least, loved me. This year I have the challenge of Ms. Burton and a new Physics teacher so we'll see where that goes.
I think one of the things that really helped me out with some of the teachers is to "hang out" with them. For example, I often went to my Chemistry teacher's room last year during home room to discuss various things (at one point I was teaching myself Thermodynamics and he helped me out a lot... then I realized that I didn't have the math skills I needed yet. Perhaps I'll learn them in Pre-calculus this year.).
Another teacher, Mr. Lyter, who was definitely my favorite teacher... ever. He would have been my physics teacher this year, but he left teaching in favor of running a diner. Our two families have alternated having New Years at each other's houses for the past three or four years, so that helped a lot. I also spent a lot of time talking with Mr. Lyter.
Then there was my English teacher last year, Mr. Folk. He was a pretty poor teacher, but he liked me a lot. I got off to a good start, on the first day we had to write a paragraph describing something and my creative writing ability far surpassed the entire class's, and earned me a bit of applause at the same time, (and all his other ones too) which I felt was quite an achievement. He liked a me lot from then on out.
Those are just a few examples, but there are a lot of advantages to being on a teacher's good side. They are more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt, for example I tend to be forgetful and have left a completed assignment at home a few times over the course of my High School career... more times than not my teachers have allowed me to bring it in the next day with no loss of points. It is also a good thing for essays, when things can be interpreted in different ways and there are certain levels of correct answer.
Follow the rules, ask questions, don't act like a complete know-it-all (guilty on all counts), and spend some time out of class with them, and a lot of teachers will grow to like you. It makes life easier in school, and its nice to have a few adult friends to talk to (I personally prefer their company to my peers, its easier to have an intelligent conversation with someone with a college degree, or so I've found).
Those are my experiences anyway.
i will in the next few days i have an essay id like you guys to score for me!
Boleslov didn't you do this thread last year and I sort of ruined it? Good job on doing it again and trying to help people before they go back.

i need help with spanish 3
I have this really hot teacher, how do I refrain from staring at her "assets"? :P lmao
lol i had a problem like that with a teacher once. i talked to them and got to know them. once we were friends it didnt distract me that he was attractive. (i was in HS) in hind sight i would say that that may have actually been the best approach because i did much better in his class after that. not because he knew me and we chatted in the hall once in a while, but because i wanted to know what it was he was teaching and so i worked harder at that class then some of my others.
fortunatly it was art class so my natural talent gave me a solid foundation to work from
I have a question on behalf of all people doing Geography GCSE with (possibly) the worst teacher in our school. We made a song about him, he's that bad.
He's called Mr. Idontlikeyou. He hates most people. He's racist. He makes fun of students. He's a really, really awful teacher who picks out a page of the textbook and tells you to simply do the questions.
What I want to know is:
How do you try and get on with someone like THAT?
That is very tough. I recommend that you, at all costs, stay RESPECTFUL. But if he makes a racist remark about a student, ethnic group, or whatever obscenity it is that he is taking part in, or who he is insulting, raise your hand and politely say that you disagree with him and that the student/person that he insulted is very nice and it's not fair to say stuff like that. If it's about an ethnic group, you can say that it's not right to make assumptions or comments like that if you don't personally know those people. I know it takes guts to stand up to people like that, but sometimes you have to. I do it all the time (when it's needed at any rate), and it's worth it. ;) But stay POLITE and RESPECTFUL, or else you will seem like a jerk.
If the issue persists, go to a counsellor, principal or other teacher you trust, and speak to them about it. They will most likely speak with this Mr.Pemberton and talk to him about this.
hmm i asked for spanish help 3 days ago... great thread
I think that's more a matter of each teacher being a real person with their own likes and dislikes. Not every teacher likes when you mess around, and if you are always doing it they can be irritated by you because you disrupt the class.
I think what Boleslav is saying is that he likes students with a bit of personality and wit, but who can get the job done (assignment wise). He has his own personal tastes as well unique to him. Your teacher may prefer the exact opposite. Mind you, almost every teacher enjoys students they don't have to hunt down or babysit to complete their work, that you can take to the bank.
Each of your teachers will expect certain things from you. Be yourself, but be respectful (mindful of other people, even). Class clowns are only well liked by people if they can still buckle down and do the work, or know when to back off in general.
I actively tried once to get a teacher to dislike me and it just seemed to make them enjoy me as a student more which really really threw me for a loop. My point is sometimes you can never know. Remember teachers are real people, and their job is to get all of their students to learn and grow. As long as you aren't actively hindering that, you should be fine. At least, that's my opinion! :p
If he really is racist you should talk to your counselor or maybe even a vice-principal.
As for making fun of students, is he serious or is he doing it in a joking manner?
Some teachers do not really teach well or at all. That can really be a problem in many classes. You could get a study group or something with your classmates so you can learn the material.
