Is this question prompted by the Halo Reach ad? ;)
It's not only possible, it's epic...

No. There's no such things as space marines.
Sometimes the armor hides the truth...

The only female character ever that I wanted to be killed in the first fight scene, or even a mishap with the airlock about 30 seconds after she opened her mouth.
Meanwhile, those guns. What can you say about those ridiculous, oversized, unwieldy guns? Thanks for reminding me of one of the worst sequels of all time, of all time.
Anyway, we don't have space marines and we don't need space marines, because we very rarely travel much further than close Earth orbit. So no, pick another career.
The way I read this title made me think this thread was gonna be really sexist.
....We have male space marines?
It is impossible.
1. Women are weaker than men and therefore cannot carry the large heavy guns and stuff.
2. It is outerspace. A Marine needs to fight in a water environment... and space is not an ocean.
3. Vasquez already killed everything....
But if I was going to make a sweeping statement or generalization I would say that as Rota already posted, Vasquez was the first official woman space marine. She blazed a trail that all others follow.
I'm one of the most sarcastic pumpkins here and I didn't see the sarcasm in that.
cover up please, this is a family community
*tells all the children to look away*
There are so many types of space marines, it hurts my face (though that might be the involvement of Warhammer in the conversation).
One problem about being a space marine... how do they go to the bathroom?

This has turned into a sexist thread that I am closing now.
For the record I am a man and have served in the military and have seen some women put guys to shame in physical activities. Some of you all are stereotyping all females into a weak class and this is not the case. True some women are weaker, but it is also true some are stronger than men.
Case Closed as well as this thread ;)
After talking with several members. I may have acted in haste in closing this thread. For which i will apoligise. We all learn and live that is the point of life if only we are willing to absorb it.
I will give this thread one more chance as long as it does not get taken over by sexist comments or flaming.

Awww, and I was gonna make a comment that involved the WNBA... Guess I'll keep that one to myself:mad:
Thanks Strum for being fair and reasonable.
Strum also told me that some posters took offense at one of my posts.
I want to let posters know that I was being completely sarcastic and humorous and in no way should you take my comment with any weight as the tone of this thread is very light and 100% fictional...
In fact my comments actually poke fun at those who make sweeping statements and generalizations such as the ones I did. My sarcastic comments were actualy meant to point out that such lines of thought are silly.
Often times comedians and people in general make very sarcastic statments to drive home a point or expose something that is silly. What they say is actually the complete opposite of what they really think.
For example, if we were having a debate or discussion about the environment and I said "We should not protect animals because they eat our food." or "Dogs are uglier than cats so lets only protect cats." or "Why don't we just kill all the animals, that way there will be nothing to protect." Not only would those statements be extremely sarcastic and humorous but they would drive home the point that arguments FOR non-protection are silly. So I hope posters now understand where I am coming from.
The thing is, I believe most people understand sarcasm, it's just very hard to project on the internet without being completely obvious about it.
When you're talking to someone in person, they can usually tell when you are being sarcastic from your body language, tone of voice, facial expressions, etc. While on forums and such, it's a lot harder to convay since the only thing you have are typed text.
The difference is that those people are funny and given this is the internet where you can't judge a person's character, body language, and tone of voice. Sarcasm usually doesn't work very well unless you are known for nothing but sarcasm and the funnies, like a few posters on the forum.
You aren't one of them.
I agree that sarcasm is hard to pick up on when it comes to written form. This is why I made other ridiculous comments along with the sarcasm like "Marines need water and there is no water in space" and "Vasquez already killed everything..."
But just for future reference, yes, I am a very sarcastic at times. In fact, many of my past posts I put "/sarcasm" after a sarcastic statement just to let readers know that I was being sarcastic. So if you have been reading my posts for any length of time you should know that I get sarcastic at times to drive home points.
Now, back to the Marine topic. Marines wear camouflage to help them blend in with surroundings. And I just cant see how camouflage would help a marine blend in with outerspace. I mean, what is outspace camouflage?
They wouldn't necessarily need to blend into space, as they would be doing most of their combat aboard other spaceships. I would think a variety of suits could complement them, depending on how the ship interiors are colored.
Regardless of whether or not you were being sarcastic, you are an idiot and should stop posting immediately. Also, japanpimp humor = Not funny.
If we have space ships and high tech weaponry and such, wouldn't it also be likely that the marine armor would have a built in camo unit to change automatically to the terrain? I mean, you wouldn't just have your marines go for a new paint job every mission, would you? Too costly, both for time and money. Or just changing armor? Too time consuming.
Hmm, you seem to have misconstrued my meaning. I don't mean active camo as in invisibilty (Like in Halo for example), I mean a sort of chameleon function. Active camo would require massive amounts of power to use for any length of time. A chameleon function would just use a bit of power any time the color scheme changes
