Well, I guess this will be my last week then.... I better start looking for reliable person to handle my account. Otherwise, i might just leave it as it is...
Anyways, anyone who wishes to quit this game just write your disappointments and let these developers know that our opinion matters since we bring life to this game.
disappointed people should play and not pay. this will use their bandwidth and they wont get paid, meaning it will cost them money to not be doing what the community desires, which is an actual game, that is actually designed as something other than a viral alpha version product unleashed on unsuspecting victims (consumers, i.e. you).
for those who dont know, it goes, alpha, beta, full.
there has to be a "I quit topic" somewhere in this forum... but I can't find it :(
Both fair discretion's. But the 2nd point (distance of war) is what makes evony, evony... although the game isn't that realistic, they try to make it so in some areas. Yes, 13 hours is a long time, and the person maybe reinforced by then if your attack is not a surprise. But hey, back in the day that's what happened? in somewhat of a degree.
Basically changing this orientation of the game wouldn't make it the game it is, and would be like every other game out there. The timing is annoyingly so, but you're still here arn't ya ;). Let's not entirely ruin the game by ripping it apart and turning it into the same strategy game that takes 10 mins to build up and destroy every1, this isn't age of empires lol.

Reasons for Quitting:
1. No endgame. PVP is broken at the end. Have to pray that the other person isn't on when you attack because of the 10x speed with which they can be reinforced and combat mechanics favoring defense.
2. NPC farming. I've never seen a more ridiculous method for maintaining an army and even more problematic is the fact that you have to constantly do it or risk losing everything you have. This wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that it's exactly the same clicks, over and over, making it a boring chore.
3. Total, complete, utter failure of communication from the company. I'd gotten bored about three weeks in, seeing where the game mechanics were going, and so I've hung out in the Game Suggestion Box since about July. No responses to the ideas in general whatsoever, except to squash the ideas they don't see happening. Not a single idea since June has been implemented. More importantly, not a single problem that these ideas attempts to fix have been addressed. Maybe they're fixing all of these things and bundling it into Age 2, but the very least they could do is say "Hey, we're fixing this in Age 2."
I'm debating whether or not I'm even coming back to see age 2, given the way the game has been handled thus far.
To the argument that this game has limitations because it is free, I put forward the examples of "Wolfpack Empire" (a 50-player wargame that is free, open source and extremely sophisticated), FreeCiv (a free multiplayer Civilization clone), FreeCol (a free multiplayer Colonization clone) and other similar wargames that are available on the Internet. No, being free is not the same as being limited or being simplified. FreeCiv is far more sophisticated from the game it is ultimately derived, for example. Ultimately, I like Evony as a game (or I wouldn't play it), but as a strategic wargame it really simply doesn't begin to compare to other free products out there.
Whilst I can see and sympathise with some of the reasons people give for quitting let me give a few reason why I believe Evony actually has a better balance than people attribute it with...
1. Distance to attack and time is a good thing. If it was easier to get from A to B it would be almost impossible to be successful in this game unless you were online all the time as it is its bad enough with the advantage to the "access anytime player". If every city could be reached in say 30 mins it would be too easy to victimise a player and hence they could log off one night being one of the strongest players on the server with 10 citys and wake up the next with nothing. By and large people tend to form allainces with people near them which helps to give them a form of defence via the distance and time to attack buffer.
2. To conquer distance, you need to build bridging city's or hop via conquering weak citys and building them up to the standard you need to make the next leap. Another way to do this if you really have a vendetta against someone is to bridge through the world via changing alliances but this is not my personal cup of tea.
3. The constant farming of NPC's is driven by the fact that the next person is doing it. If you want to have a chance of beating the next guy you need a bigger and better army or you need to be smarter in attack and defence. Having a strong alliance is important too and also having as good spread of people who can cover the 24hr clock is handy. So peeps from around all the continents is useful.
4. If someone keeps getting reinforced, let them, let it drain their food, keep attacking and recalling and under the cover of this get someone else in your alliance to attack one of their other city's or one of the alliance members you believe is doing the reinforcing. People can not have troops everywhere at the same time.
5. Use your alliance and friendly alliances to prep citys far away from you so that all you have to do is send the final wave to conquer. It can be say 3+ hours away by cav, that can allow you to bridge to an entirely new area.
6. I have an insane food bill and I am only online for a few hours each day... beyond farming the normal lvl5 npc's I also farm lvl10's with about 6k arch loss and rainbow(layering). I tend to make most of my food on the markers by scalping. Selling and buying the same quantity's of food but with a margin. It can be done with lumber or iron more profitably but food tends to be what is left over at the end of each day for me...
End note... the time and distance aspect of this game whilst making it a pain to beginners can be your friend too when you figure out how to manipulate it.
I am nothing to do with evony and I am a 1mil+ pres player on server 1?... I have had my trials and tribulations just like everyone else... my only regret is not stockpiling enough food when it was under 0.1 to buy!!!
