But more importantly, I'd like to suggest that we, the educated, take an interest in the world around us. I'd like to suggest involvement in
deserving local charities,
support for independent booksellers and those that make a good cuppa coffee,
activity in local recycling and reduction programs,
and (if I can say it without violating the Forum rules)
participation in local politics
-- regardless of one's position, so long as it's an informed one.
