so i quit church today
now i know this looks like its going to be a religion thread, but its not. its going to be a philosophy thread (because we dont have enough of those)
i like to talk about philosophical stuff, like what is the importance of knowing what makes the grass green.
not the actual bits of knowledge we feel the need to know, but the why we feel the need to know them and what the deeper meanings they have in our life are kind of thing.
-
so why did you quit church?
-
i felt like i had hit a spiritual plateau and if i wanted to go any higher it would be though personal study. not so much that it was holding me back, but that i should take some time to my self to know me before i worked on knowing anyone else.

Grass is green, unless it is yellow, or some other colour.
We like green. It's hard-wired into us for some reason.
If you ever find God, maybe you can ask him why he did that?

Oh, this is the thread where I KNOW I'm going to get myself in trouble...!
To me, I'm all for self knowledge and soul searching in who you are, because it helps to figure out what you believe is true in your heart, mind, and spirit, and what you'd be able to take on faith of what may or may not be evident. I believe that to do otherwise is abject stupidity, blind obsession of maybe not 'divinely inspired' teaching, and probably NOT what we were born/created/meant for.
In some ways, I think that one sentence tends to sum up my philosophy. "And it harm NONE, thy will be done". As long as your search harms no one else, including yourself, go for it. :)

Me and church parted ways a looooooong time ago. Take it from me, you won't miss it.

To thine own self be true--may you find knowledge if you seek it & inspiration as well.
Also, right there with Rota on that...

I don't go to church anymore. I would always start to fall asleep anyways. Its not that i don't believe in God i just find it boring. Its the same every sunday just the same old rituals. I can have a one on one relationship with "God" whatever that is. (don't know yet). I don't need a priest or preacher to help me communicate with god.

Every Sunday I go to the church of St. Mattress with the priest "Father Sleeping-in." His sermon always consists of snoring loudly. It's the same every week, and it's GREAT! :D

I started to go to church when i was in military School because i would get the morning off from Physical Training lol.
