I've decided that it becomes a thing of pride for jp. that when people actually lay out the logistics in the back of his mind he admits defeat even if he keeps arguing.

I cannot believe I read this whole thread... what a waste of time. Kiki stop reading, its for your own good lol
No, no one is holding a gun to my head and forcing me to read your posts.
However, how am I supposed to ignore you? every time I go on the forums, I find you spreading your cancerous opinions all over the place.
I go to the general discussion board, I find an interesting topic and go HEY LOOK! they look like they are discussing something cool! oh wait, here comes JapanPimp riding down on his unicorn, spreading his opinions all over the place. Everyone is now angry for reasons that YOU cannot seem to understand and another topic is yet destroyed.
You are the cancer of the Evony Community forums. Go back to 4chan.org where you belong.
Try 10 out of 13. All to 13 except one to 14 stars.
Who's this japanpimp guy? Why does he get bashed on in every thread?
Really? If that's the case, then I'd be like -

There is no secret. As Spawn pointed out, he tried all 13 pieces in a row from 13 to 14 and succeeded on 8 of them, you don't see the 5 fails. That isn't any kind of special result, only marginally 'lucky' based on the stated odds.
I just tried your method as seen on your YouTube video. Now, I am not saying I am a believer of what you are preaching here, but I cannot argue with successfully upgrading 10 out of 13 stars from level 10 to 11 on the first go. I still believe that luck played a major role in this. The results were better than what I was getting before. I will reserve my finally judgement for when I have attempted it on the following star sets, but until then thanks for the info.
I'm not sure if this is what JP was getting at or not, I'm also not sure whether or not this hold any value, and I'm also not sure whether or not this is common sense (because to me it seems like it). I also don't know exactly what JP's star leveling method is; however, from the general direction of the conversation I'm assuming its that you leveling up everything at the same time so that all the star levels are the same. When you get all stars to the same level you repeat the process. This way, the largest difference between any two pieces of gear is 1 star level.
With that said, although it probably doesn't have anything to do with luck, I do believe that a systematic leveling style of that nature is better than randomly leveling up your stars.
Here is why (and to a degree this may be a modification of JP's method):
If you have everything at level 5. First you start with the boots, if they reach 6 then you go to the legs, if they reach 6, you go to the belt; however, if the belt fails, you try to get the belt back to 5, once it reaches 5 you can choose to do the belt again or you can choose to do another piece, and you can continue this process as you level up.
The reason I am going to give props to this is it puts a limit on how much you lose as opposed to 13 level 5 gears. Then you level 6 everything and then 4 things fail. If 0 things fail and go to 0 then you got yourself at 7 level 6 gears but a bunch @ 0. So the difference would be 6 star levels on 6 gears whereas if you did it the previously mentioned way, the max difference would be 6 levels on ONE gear.
Although that might not sound like much, when you reach level 11 star gear. Its quite a bit... 9.22 per gear piece, and the % to fail is much higher. Doing it this way means if you have a hero with 503 attack (and this is a real example) and you try to level up the hero star level. The WORST possible case scenario is that your hero will have 494 attack instead of 503.
I've also figured out why Jp makes so little sense, because jp makes cents and people who make cents usually don't need to make sense.
