Farms in Cities
Are Farms really of any use anymore? I think they are just a waste of space.. thinking of converting all my resource slots in all my cities to just mills and mines. Farms only reduce ur upkeep by a matter of a few 100k.. so i think its useless to even have them.
-
Well, they can be used for "war cities" as it helps upkeep just a bit(level 10 npc) But neither then the farm required for stable or w/e, idk, I usually use mills or iron mines.
-
Yea, i can see tht u need them in the beginning, but i think they are useless for me now.
-
Yes they are usless, make your cities either pure iron and lumber you can stockpile massive amounts of resources that way by moving lumber to iron cities and iron to lumber cities. Then you can use the market to feed your troops of you are ever pressed for time.
-
ive seen nice food cities....... heck who am i kidding right?
but yes very good beginning cities id go with full lumber :p

You always hear of people having a few resources cities... Why not make ALL of your cities resource cities, you know? Might as well say bye bye to farms forever. Maybe keep 1 for memory lol.

i have a mix of everything in my first city, in my second city i have food/iron fields, and in my third city i have stone and more lumber fields. the idea is that every city can support each other without a hitch. and, of, course, you can sell lumber for food, and transport food from your other cities to your main one to help support upkeep. just my opinion, if it helps you, great!

My main is actually a food city. I have enough lumber and iron cities to send res to main main to keep building. At 1st my main had lumber and iron 60/40. But then after sending more and more res to my main, it stopped producing anything as the city was always over cap limit. So just decided that if it isn't gonna produce anything then might as well have farms to make it easier to maintain a slightly larger army. Atm my main is cutting my upkeep by 2mil. Not much but that's 48mil less food I loose a day so im fine with it.

As soon as you can farm npc's you dont need farms anymore.
I dont see the point of having a food city, even with 40 lvl 10 farms and 10 lvl 10 lakes you would need to have a super politics hero for it to make much of a difference (im not doing the maths as its far to early for that!)
But your just cutting down on a wood or iron city that you could have (i agree that they should be pure iron or pure lumber) I have 4 wood and 3 iron which works pretty well for me.

but what happens when food is twice expensive than lumber in the market
u have bills of useless lumber and iron
there u go...
