boters are like herpes they hang on and on and on and on and on and on ...
Ghostsss I wouldn't keep a list that big on just one server. Cause if the Evony developers decide to purge all the botters and the botters find out there name was on your list they would need to take some revenge. I hope your forum name isn't the same as in ss50.
You cannot prove a botter bots. He could be on at the same times you are; he could be on but doing something else; there are many explanations to strange behaviour, which do not necessarily point to Botting.
That's why it's so difficult to catch bots and bots only.
Let them if they wish to,anyway my player name is defintely different from my forum name. I know there is someone in ss50 having the same name as my forum name.
The list that i have,it just gets longer each day. Agian,i wonder if evony have a list longer than me,in one server. But i am sure my list is only an extremely small fraction of the number of botters in ss50.
It's not easy catching the botter, but when u are in the game long enuff,u will know em.
Jorbaud spelling doesn't have anything to do with this game.
There is shorthand in real life especially for students. It doesn't mean they can't spell it means quicker way to take notes and keeps a class moving.
Ghostsss please use proper grammer to keep from people posting spam talking about spelling.
Personally...I'm a few days from canceling cents and quiting. So many obvious boters...there is no point...I'm not willing to do it myself and everyone else does. They discuss it in chat, offer tech help on setting it up, reporting people does nothing...NOTHING. This was a minor problem a year ago when I played...now it is so widespread..it is evony.
My only question is...based on the game rules..isn't that sort of a contractual breach? if a person pays several hundred bucks to play a game and is expected to abide by a certain set of rules only to find that the game IS about breaking the rules with no consequences.....game play is not as advertised or expected.
Thoughts?
Be honest. You have 200 names you SUSPECT of botting by whatever your methods are to prove it. You don't have the background info that evony has, so you cannot prove anything. If evony can't prove it to ban them, then you can't either.
And IMO, evony is going about this backwards. Forget the botters for now. The key to reduce botting is to target the duplicate accounts. These after all are the ones using bots to feed their main accounts.
Crack down on them by IP and MAC address matching and ban anybody logged onto the same server at the same time with matching credentials unless they have previously advised evony that they are family members playing in the same house.(As per TOS/Rules)
The benefit of this is, it will also catch out account sharing if done in a live environment.
Once that is in place and settled, then to survive, people will have to bot on their main account(if they don't already). Then work on your detection methods for botters.
But it's my belief, that evony can't do it this way, as they don't have the manpower, support to handle the resulting backlash from such extreme measures. Support already previously stated there is a backlog of support tickets as yet unattended to.
Botting will never die. It will survive as long as evony does. For every result on google searching for evony botting, there are 2 more sites that are private/exclusive or word of mouth only, promoting similar products.
Going for duplicate accounts and account sharers will be far more effective in the long run.
I agree, match IPs of accounts, and you will be able to figure out who has multiple accounts and logging into other accounts other than their main. Too many multi-accounts on the server, and some of these players make it obvious in game that they have farming alts(accounts) that feed their main account, and it is publicly displayed since they know nothing will be done to them because they are spenders in the game.
