Subconsciously, Gark is using the words Witness Good Son to reach out to his son and let him know through the panic and pain that Gark loves him.
Interesting concept here, but I don't think I'll be participating. A 4-bar deficit is just too much for my tastes, and doesn't make sense to me.
This isn't a complaint, just feedback as requested from Bole's introductory post.
It's in comparison to the people with high rep. Having 4 less in available skills than, say, you, is huge.
This is just the trial though, I'm going to be trying different things out as we go along. We have gotten started, but you can definitely still enter, I'd love to have you on board.
Don't worry about the skill points for this trial. They really are just placeholders for now.
^ This is true (up to a point) and, importantly, I need feedback on how to make the skills something practical and important and something that can add value. So if you don't want to enter (and I'd encourage you to enter) I'd still be grateful for your feedback there.
Also, you can guess the constellations of the players. It will keep them on their toes. :)
[EDIT] - we are bound to have at least one character drop out, so you could take them over if that happened.
I might keep an eye on things and give feedback as I see it. The main issue when I saw the skills idea my first time reading it several days ago is that there really isn't a whole lot of rep being passed around in the RPs and Stories section, due to the fact that there are well under 20 people (can't spread it enough to re-rep) and few "outsiders" bother to read the RPs and Stories in order to give rep.
So there's basically a lot of RPers with high post counts and low rep. Skills don't look to be a big issue in the trial, but they can be in a more solid story.
steals pm.....
lol JDM.
i've been thinking about the skills off and on. you said you wanted them to be meaningful and for us to use them. one of the reasons gweneal got out her jacks to play with smith is that she has skill with them. it all so gave me an opportunity to give a better glimpse of the life she led by the state of her possessions.
i think skills should be two fold when being chosen and used. 1) they should show you who the person is by what they know how to do, the level of dedication they were willing to put into it and maybe even a glimpse as to why they chose it. 2) they should give others an opportunity to interact meaningfully forming character bonds that can play key rolls later in the story.
but thats just my opinion on the matter.
I'd like to use the power words "Shy-free lass" to get Aevelaine to open up about the secret. :D
New item for Revya: Bag of Ash.
Question about power words-if the same word is said to you more than once, does it still count as 2 power words, or are there conditions, such as in the same post than no, but if separate posts than yes?
i've been tallying all my words on a sheet of paper (i always keep reams of paper at my comp desk seriously it usually looks like a recycel bin threw up on it) i am tallying what i have heard and what post i heard it in.
i'm also keeping my red words separate from my blue words A) because i'm OCD like that B) so there isnt contention later about using a red word on a blue player or a blue word on a red player (i like to keep my games clean even if my desk isnt) and C) because i can *giggle*
i am assuming we can have all the qualifying words we hear. but if not, at least i have my words nicely orginized so that i can go through and remove the ones i cant have.
good questions Sari
I'll PM to Bole what Smith whispered in Gark's ear.
K Jurnis.
Guys, who hasn't posted recently and do you think they have dropped out or are just on a different posting cycle? I'd like to get a quick status check before we go into the next scene.
In Blue, I have not seen Coolbro (Frod) post in awhile.
Along with BroUK.
Everyone else is fairly regularly posting in Blue.
uses power words to find out what smith whispered to gark:
face matter secret
Jurnis, could you post in black or red in the red team thread. just for my sanity dear, when i see blue letters i think blue team.
Oops...Im so used to posting in blue that I may have made a mistake. LOL
(okay, there is some weird thing that keeps trying to bring up a search engine every time I hit the apostrophe key...So I need you to bear with me for a bit...:()
YAY!!! so much fun so far guys!!!
I think Haffys should be forced to sleep in the stable as well.
OK guys, we are one scene in, so please don't be shy in making comments and giving feedback. From my point of view, I can't believe how well the first scene has unfolded in both threads, and I attribute it to some first time RPers who really are writing impressively, along with gentle nudging and mentoring from the established RP crew. You know who you are, I probably repped you already - expect to get more!
One change I want to make related to the NPC characters. I've decided I want them to have Constellations, and you can guess what they are without it counting to your limit.
Scene 2: The Morning After The Night Before
Duration: An hour or two
Activity: Waking up and getting ready to leave.
Goal: Leave the inn together, in your RPing group.
Tone: Hungover, grumpy, confused.
Environment: The inn seems as dirty and sweaty as the characters.
GM Controlled Character: Captain Olad, of the town guard.
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z.../townguard.png
Olad is a tough, serious, unflinching, lawman who believes in giving criminals a fair trial before hanging them.
Ends: Captain Olad will drag a character off to the jailhouse. The other characters leave the inn.
This means the threads are now open for posting again?
Cool! I'll post immediately.
If he comes for Smith for some reason, he's likely going to have some major problems with it.
