Australia Day.

As many of you probably don't know today is Australia Day the day that Australia became one of Britain's Colonies, but if it weren't fer them 22million of us probably wouldn't be here so it ain't all that bad, Australia Day to many Aussies is day to kick back and enjoy with friends and relo's playin games and having a barbie fer lunch and we just Act very patriotic, Because Australia Day is... like the American 4th of July, the English Guy Fawkes night? (maybe) anyway who cares HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!

Guy Fawkes was a dude that tried to blow up the House of Parliament. He was of course caught & eventually executed.

As for celebrating Guy Fawkes like the Aussie's party on Australia Day it's more of standing in the freezing cold, trying to light a load of fireworks without blowing yourself up. Not quite in the same league.

Don't forget about the drinking and the big fires, and some other minor details. Though any more of this and we will forget that the thread is to celebrate being Australian! :cheer: Even though I am British.

Most(?) Australians came from Britain and Ireland so yay for Australia Day! :) (For any Australians that have Irish heritage, all the Irish people that "moved" to Australia were convicted criminals. Although, I fail to see how that was a punishment...)

I've never been to Australia but my favourite part about it is Home and Away. (For obvious reasons.) :D

So we party and pretend it's all good but as much as I love my country and the spirit of the Aussie people, I find it hard to celebrate too hard as we still have our issues to sort out yet. 3. Not all Irish were Convicts some (including some of my ancestors) moved on their own accord!
