A protest is not inherently bad or done as a means to bring about change by fear as you seem to be implying. So your totalitarian application of the police/military to suppress every protest brings us to the heart of Sari's message regarding the difference between Egypt and the US. We have liberties that they don't and have other ways of political recourse. You say they can bring doubt to the current political system. Not everyone has the liberties to do so. That would require some political means, but in a corrupt government what real chance do they have to bring about those changes?

If I'm not mistaken, this thread was created in appreciation for American rights and maybe a little discussion of the protests that are going on.
Do not turn this into a debate about what government would be most effective or discuss why you think the current governments are ineffective. If that happens, thus thread will be closed, and those participating will be infracted.

I saw footage of a man step in front of a water cannon truck in a non-violent gesture of defiance and he stopped the truck but then when he tried to block the nozzle of the cannon, they fired it anyway and he was only a few feet away. I also saw footage of crowds of riot police running from the crowd but they were the ones who were instigating violence and the resistance remained non-violent. Well played people of Egypt.

A protest using violence uses fear as its main weapon of change. Every
protest is bad, it wishes to disrupt the current society. Bringing doubt is the main way to make a violent protest. In a country without as many rights, a nonviolent protest would be exactly what they would need to make countrywide violent protests. Which is why they should be suppressed, every single one.

And all those violent protests, would bring about the political change.

Well, it seems we are just starting to say the same thing over and over again. I say peaceable protests aren't necessarily bad therefore should not be suppressed. If they were violent and destructive they would be called riots. You say all protests are bad and should be suppressed. So I just leave it as I am glad and thankful for the liberties we do have in the US.
