So - Anyone else amongst us Evonians that enjoys Classical music? If so what's your favorites?
I used to play classical for piano exams until I gave it up 2 years ago. (Up to Grade 5.) I don't listen to classical music, although I am partial to Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3 from time to time. My friend is one of the best oboe players in Europe (2nd best for his age I think), so he's tried to influence my musical tastes - with little success. :) I'm kind of jealous that he gets to travel all around the world with various orchestras; Abu Dhabi is next I think.
It's hard to go wrong with Beethoven and Mozart.
I do enjoy Bach, and Handel, and many others, as well.
True that, both Beethoven and Mozart are very accessible to even the most casual listener. I greatly enjoy Bach and Handel too (I especially love the St.Matthews Passion ) though I prefer composers from the 19th century dramatic era - Wagner, Puccini, Verdi and so on.
:D Pity you gave up though lol - what genre are you listening too nowadays?Quote:
Speaking of Handel, I do a pretty mean Gigue in D minor on piano!
Classical music is a great genre of music. You have to convey a emotion without words.
