Here is another battle report (some server 4 links have not been working for a while) in response to my page 1 reply:

I have upped the ballista count to 525 from 500 because I took a few losses (~25) on one mission with a 65 attack hero. Bear in mind, though, that this one battle loss was my first with casualties after at least 40 successful attempts previously.
I no longer hit lvl6+ because I don't know how to avoid rockfalls cruching my ballista.
So, what it boils down to is:
higher level archery + lower level horseback riding = winning against higher level NPC towns?
I have archery 10 and horseback riding 5, I raid a level 5 NPC only at the moment, but even with my crappiest hero with 11 attack (trying to raise his other stats for research) and 500 ballistas, I have never suffered any losses.
It seems to me that the devs need to unlink fortified units from cavalry in terms of movement.
I suppose the big test for me is when I can find a lvl 6 to raid and see if that theory holds true. I am next to a level 8 NPC, but kind of worried to try at the moment.

im hearing somthing about higher hbriding levels causing losses, tho it seems illogical

is there anyone who attacks a lvl 5 with level 9 archery with out losses
because since ive had level 9 archery since this morning i loose ballistas everytime whereas when i had level 8 archery i didnt

Somewhere here in the forum I read that die to the wall high fix that towers on a lvl5 now has a range of 2031.25. A player with lvl9 archery has a range of 2030, which is 1.25 shorter - thus giving the towers the first shot. Now sometimes you will get lucky and win without any loses. To now get thru without any loses, you will need lvl10 archery, which will give a player the range of 2100 and getting the first shot. But it is shorter than the range of a lvl6. I have yet harvest a lvl6 without a lost no matter how many I send.
