There should be a way to send more troops at one time (more than 125K max). This limitation is silly.

There it is. Balance. :)
What's the point of this thread? It introduces no new information, and stirs up the already stirred up pot. If you are annoyed by people complaining about the change then perhaps you shouldn't write a thread clearly intended to elicit more conversation on the topic.
Why not just let the conversation die out naturally?
This thread is an explanation which sooooo many angry players demanded. I am only doing my best to help in the transition. :D
Kempion, you are a carebear and have no idea what you are talking about.
Back in 'the old days' of NPC farming, it was still impossible to capture the city of someone who was anywhere near your strength OR was a member of a good alliance because they could put unlimited troops in their city and call on alliance members for help.
A level 9 embassy means you can have between 800k and 900k friendly troops protecting your city who would all fight at once, while the enemy's army had to come in 90k waves.
It has always been impossible to capture any city belonging to someone who didn't view this game as a solo simcity clone.
Now, a defender doesn't need to bother calling on their alliance for help. You can talk about strategy and all that until you are blue in the fingers, but you can not breach my wall defenses in 6 attacks, even if I do not open the gates. If I do, you can't do it in 20.
And if team up with your alliance and get everyone to send five attacks? I will at long last ask for help, and a million archers will be raining down arrows on your armies before they even get in range to fire back.
You can get everyone in your alliance to spend massive amounts of real life money making it so they are attacking in 125k waves and alls it will do is give me honor faster.
Perhaps there was an easy button. Send 500k troops at someone with 20k and win. Wow, what a shocker, people outnumbered 25 to 1 get killed. Now they inversed it, send 500k troops at someone with max Ats and now they don't even have to be online or open their gates to crush you.
There are all kinds of battle reports of 90k ballista getting their rumps handed to them without even getting in range of the walls. If you want to argue that strategy can over come level 10 walls, put your money where your mouth is, talk your alliance into doing it, and post the battle reports.
If you lose less then 10 million troops I will call you the king of Evony and mail you a crown. Until then, stop the BS please. Everyone can easily figure out why a carebear is happy they are invincible. The people who like a challenge and risk however do not like invulnerability.
Exactly how is 90K ballistae considered "combined arms?"
Kassikas and Pokey are, as usual, right on the money.
EVNoob
90K ballistas is the most firepower one can throw at someone.... hence it being used as an example.
other than the rainbow tactic, combined arms have very little purpose in this game... the recent updates haven't changed that.
I actually think that if the changes made were on new servers, they'd be good.
The problem was the change made on server 1 served to make it too costly to attack.
You keep saying 'your alliance will help you'. That's fine, but still not the point. You can still only put 90 or 100K in an attack wave... a city with a full lvl 9 wall, even with nothing else, won't be hurt much by that in any mixture.
It would take many waves close together and horrific losses to do it.
Why would you, your alliance, or anyone want to spend 1 million troops to take one city?
THAT'S what people are upset about... not the difficulty, but the pointlessness.
What Evony has failed to do thus far is balance risk and reward... Everything is constantly either too easy or too difficult, and that leads to inbalance.
Well, seeing as I am the only one considering both sides on this issue (as is usually the case), if UMGE focuses all of its efforts on the high end, the low end suffers. The low end is much bigger and one must assume more profitable.
As for the rainbow protecting 90K ballistae, perhaps other changes were made to address this goofy exploit.
Now, throwing 90K ballistae at an enemy is foolish. This is not a stratgey. This "tactic" is certainly not combined arms.
This discussion won't go anywhere until there is an agreement that 90K is not a reasonable example of anything but flawed strategy.
And having 18k ATs is somehow a brilliant strategy?
90k ballista with a rainbow guard is the most powerful army that can currently be fielded on most servers. It can be slaughtered by 18k Ats without even inflicting much in the way of losses. Right now there is no army that can inflict damage on level 10 walls if the gates are open. There is no balance there, just a carebear I win button that will end up being gimped in a month or so.
You like to talk about tactics and strategy but I do not think you have ever bothered with specifics. You say things can be done, but you never go out and try to do them.
Go out, talk people into helping you knock down some level 10 walls with a decent garrison, and post some battle reports. Like I said, do it with less then ten million losses and I will mail you a crown and call you the king of Evony. Fight some battles, get some experience playing the game, and then talk about what is smart and what isn't.
Until then, it would be appreciated if you stopped peddling misinformation to people who do not know any better.
